The author explores a range of case studies of inferred spiritual interference or possession. One criticism would be that there aren't any obvious guidelines on how to clear oneself of any such unwanted intrusions (the author suggests that virtually every one of us comes under these influences at some time during our lives). Nevertheless, there is a very good chapter in the appendix that discusses living well and maintaining spiritual hygiene as a basic method of self-protection.
Very readable and extremely interesting - to be read with a critical, though open mind.

I also recommend: Spirit Releasement Therapy: A Technique Manual (by the same author, but intended for professional hypnotherapists), Spirit Release: A Practical Handbook,Remarkable Healings: A Psychiatrist Discovers Unsuspected Roots of Mental and Physical Illness,Exorcism: How to Clear at a Distance a Spirit Possessed Person (you'll need a pendulum, sold separately), and The Unquiet Dead: A Psychologist Treats Spirit Possession (specifically for releasing earthbound spirits [aka ghosts] from people and homes, but not demons). There's some overlap between them, of course, but each brings something new and exciting to the table. Together, they make an unbeatable library for the layperson and professional alike.
I would recommend also getting some books on hypnosis and past-life regression therapy if you are really planning to get into this field.
Note that it is possible that not all entities may respond favorably to compassion, love, and forgiveness. If these techniques are ineffective, you may need to fight fire with fire, so to speak. Practical Psychic Self Defense Handbook, The: A Survival Guide offers a variety of more aggressive methods for depossession, as well as protection from current and future attacks, and how to heal damage caused by psychic attacks. This book touches only briefly on using compassionate exorcism.
In all fairness I have a little left to read, not quite finished, but it's a fascinating read....answered some questions I'd been wondering about from shamanic studies...unexpectedly. He really pulls several spiritual healing modalities together, easy read, different perspective.
Often 'exorcism' is dealt with in a religious manner...this isn't necessarily so in this book...but rather a focus on light and darkness.
Worth the time and money.
In this book, the author discusses his findings (as well as the findings of other professionals) that people on earth can be impacted by the attachment of earthbound souls, "dark force entities" &/or extraterrestrials (ET's). The idea being that when there is a weakness in our auras, it's easy for these non-physical entities to enter into our physical being, and impact our lives in quite significant ways.
The author also describes his way of helping these entities move on - a therapy called SRT - where the experience is treated as real (no matter how off the wall it sounds), and the entity is spoken to in a calm, nice but firm way, where it's explained that they are disturbing this persons life & need to move into the light.
Other topics such as past life regression therapy & the history of exorcisms is also included.
Examples are included throughout where the conversations between therapist & non-physical entity are noted, and the change in that persons life after such sessions are completed is discussed.
I would highly recommend this book to those who are interested in the paranormal, as well as to therapists who are unsure how to proceed with certain patients - as 1 or more of the therapies discussed here may be of help. One word of caution though, and open mind is a must!
