I loved this debut novel.

Ryann is beyond broken so when she finds herself where she spent her teenage summers, before college, she runs into her first crush Cash.

They find that the old feelings are still there, but now Cash wants more and Ryann wants to believe she can try for more with Cash, because he's shown everything she's never had in relationship. He's kind, loving and fiercely protective.

The story is filled with rebuilding a broken woman, it was also filled with angst, twists and suspense, all the things I love.

This was a great debut novel and you would guess that it was just that, the writing was well written as I got lost in Ryann and Cash's story,I can't wait to see what's next from this author.

This book starts of with a gut wrenching and absolutely heartbreaking prologue. Ryann is only eleven years old, when she is left an orphan. The story is told in dual point of views.

She is now all grown up but her life certainly hasn't been all sunshine and rainbows. She has the scars and nightmares to prove it. Starting afresh in the little town of Sea Harbour, working as a waitress in a bar. When she comes face to face with Cash Donovan, who was her first kiss 8 years ago, sparks fly.

Cash is surprised to see Ryann again especially working in his cousins bar, of all places. He is still attracted to her, after all this. Not missing an opportunity he asks her out on a date.

Ryann walls aren't that easy to break down, she doesn't trust or let anyone in easily.

"If I let him love me, he'll only break me and there isn't anything left to break. I'm a mass of fragments, a pile of brokenness that will take more than a lifetime to piece back together."

When someone from Ryann past comes back to hurt her, Cash will have to fight with everything he has to save her, especially from herself.

For someone who hadn't had an easy life, Ryann was quite tough and sassy. She was also strong and at times stubborn. Cash was a bossy and strong hero. I will admit I didn't warm up to him straight away. Some of his actions didn't quite sit right with me, at times. But you could he loved and would do anything for Ryann.

Overall this was a heartbreaking story, about finding love and learning to let someone else in.

If you are looking for a book that will give you the excuse to cry ugly then this is it! For a debut novel this was nothing short of exceptional and left absolutely no stone unturned in its pursuit of perfection and this author found it…I was blown away!
Summing the book up I would have to say it was emotionally raw, it took a look at events that define, at events that leave a lasting mark and taint the future of those involved.
Ryann, Oh, boy, she had been through so much, experience so much pain and sorrow that it was excruciating to read. Surviving the hell that was her father not only murdering her mother but attempting to kill her too, beggars my comprehension but she was still standing and stronger that I thought possible. Her life wasn’t easy, living with those memories was a daily battle.
There was so much going on in this story that it demanded my undivided attention, it was forthright and solid, making sure that as the reader I was feeling every emotion that the author was pouring into Ryann.
Cash is a detective and he knew the minute he saw her working at his cousin’s bar, not only who she was but that he wanted to get to know her. This beautiful man, with a loving soul wanted to be the guys she needed, he just had to get her to see that what they could have together could be worth the risk, Ryann was less than willing to take the risk it seemed.
Cash is the type of character that will stay with you long after you have read the last word of the book. This was love in its purest form, it was how with the right person and unconditional love you can overcome all the s**t that life has thrown at you in the past.
