5.0 out of 5 stars A Thorough Guide to Understanding and Dealing with Female Hair Loss 24 April 2014
By T. Coker - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
About a year ago I started noticing that the back of my head didn't have as much hair as it used to and that I was beginning to get small "bald spots" where hair wasn't as think and the scalp showed. As time progressed it's gotten worse and finally after a particularly bad moment where I felt like everyone was talking about my bald head (or what I felt like was a bald head) I decided to take action. Headturners is the kind of book that equips women with the knowledge, insight, tools and advice needed to fully understand and deal with female hair loss in a practical way. It's highly informative, providing a solid foundation of knowledge from causes of hair loss, to the myths that mire the issues, to the stigma of hair loss and how to deal with it, and most of all... it helps to establish ways of fixing the problem and preventing more hair loss.

Ronnie Talent has a smooth and welcoming writing style that put you at ease and invites you in to get a thorough understanding of everything from hair replacement to medical causes and more. It's well-written with a straightforward tone and structured content. For women who want an in depth look and a solid foundation of knowledge and options about hair loss, this is definitely the book for you.
5.0 out of 5 stars Read this book first before you do any hair procedure! 29 Mar. 2014

Wow - This book saved me from making a big mistake! My hair has gotten a little thinner the past few years, and I went to a hair loss center to find out why. They wanted me to spend thousands of dollars on surgery! I didn't know women had other options. I'm glad I decided to read this before I went through with this.

Ronnie Talent gives us a plethora of information in Headturners. You can tell that the advice is coming from years of education and experience, and then delivered in a way that shows he really wants to help - not just profit. Talent teaches us how to re-grow hair, how to deal with the emotions of hair loss, and how to avoid being ripped off.

If you are thinking about getting any sort of hair replacement - including extensions - read this book first! I was advised to get one procedure, but it was ineffective and I lost money as a result. If I would have read this book first I would not have went through all of that turmoil. This small investment will save you big in the long run.

Highly recommended!
5.0 out of 5 stars Maybe Your Hairdresser Knows What Your Doctor Doesn't 24 April 2014

I'm an African-American woman, and when I saw the pictures of the Caucasian women at the beginning of the book, I thought, "Uh oh, this isn't for me." But I was wrong. The information contained herein that explains the hair growth cycle and the different reasons for hair loss are universal. It's written by an expert in the hair loss industry, whose clients have been seen on popular TV shows, like Project Runway, Undercover Boss, and One Tree Hill.

I have fibroids, and take iron supplements due to severe blood loss. I now know that my iron deficiency could be a reason for my hair loss. I have also been wearing wigs as a cover-up for the thinning hair, but after reading the section on traction alopecia, I realize that I could be doing more damage than good.

If you've tried "everything" with no results, get this book. You may discover something that you haven't tried.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for information 24 April 2014
By Beverly Clark - Published on Amazon.com

I’ve seen so many ads on TV for hair replacement options yet every single person I know that looked into it said it was crazy expensive and often didn’t work as well as advertised.

I decided to do some research online but found “articles” were often simply disguised advertising.

This book ended up being an excellent resource as the author provides a wealth of information regarding hair loss, types of hair loss and the best options for hair replacement and/or extensions.

I definitely recommend reading this book before you pay one cent for any hair replacement programs.
5.0 out of 5 stars Knows His Stuff!!! 24 April 2014

I've always had thick, thick, thick hair! But in the last few months I started to notice a slight change in the volume and how much was being left in my brush. I'm so thankful that I read this book! Not only did it make me realize what my problem was, it was extremely informative about the different types of hair loss, why and how, and it also had great recommendations on how to get you to rebuild your confidence, while having thinning hair.

While reading this book, I put together that my hair thinning coincided with my recent surgery to have an ovary removed. My hormones were extremely out of whack! This author, Ronnie Talent, definitely knows his stuff, and I'm so thankful, that as a woman, we have someone like him in our corner. *****5 Stars*****
