She didn’t come to North Dakota to find a man but Jeanette is surrounded by them at the ranch and her dreams have been invaded by the oh-so-potent Hawke and the readers can’t help but be drawn into this romance as Hawke sets out to show Jeanette that he can be the man of her dreams. Sizzling chemistry, feisty fireworks and heart gripping emotions keep readers glued to the pages with some hot and steamy passion fogging things up quite a bit for the readers it fogs thing up with all the heat burning between Jeanette and Hawke but for them, it clouds Jeanette intentions and makes it hard for her to stick to her guns which makes things quite interesting in this well written, fast paced and smooth flowing plot full of suspense, excitement and romance with some unforeseen danger adding adrenaline pumping excitement to the story.
These strong, compelling characters grabbed my attention right from the start and held me captive until the very end and I enjoyed my first visit to the Crawley Creek ranch and although it would have been better if I had read the previous books first because of some of the present events continue from the previous books, I had no problem picking up all I need to know to enjoy the book and know that I will be catching up on the series soon.
4 ½ STARS
Jeanette lover being a therapist at the ranch but she is so used to feeling disconnected from her own family that she finds the Ranch a bit overwhelming at times. Throw in her unhealthy attraction for Hawke and she just can't get the man out of her head. They had a passionate encounter a few weeks prior but she firmly put a lid on anything going further. He is technically her boss after all.
But when the lines she has drawn between constantly blur she finds it harder to resist the raunchy rancher. Christmas is a time of joy and with children once again at the ranch it should be a great time. But when their rock is struck down and ends up critically ill, will all the goodwill and family ties be undone as stress and strain heaps up on them?
Wonderful visit with the Crawley Creek crew. I loved Hawke and Jeanette. She is so worried about what people might think of her having a relationship with her boss, she doesn't see that they already know of the attraction between them. Hawke is great a subtly teasing her out of her self isolated cocoon and mingling more. Jeanette also gives Hawke more of the stability he unconsciously craves. Great read!!!!!!!
OMG I love Hawke, both his cocky ego and his sensitive side, they maybe his two extremes but they both make up the most adorable character. I have not read the other Crawley Creek books (I fully intend to now). But it was nice to know I didn't lose any of the plot by not reading the others first (I would recommend reading them as this book will finish a plot or two.)
This was a quick read for me, I loved it as it has been a nice break in between reading a lot of longer novels.
The book is well written, the characters are loveable and Ms King's imagination at Christmastime gave me the warm and fuzzies in Mid May.
I received a copy in exchange for a honest review.

Hawke's been interested in Jeannette since she first arrived at Crawley Creek. Jeannette is a psychiatrist and Hawke is the youngest of the Crawley Creek bunch.
There were many things I liked about this book but the part I liked the best was Hawke's determination of winning Jeannette over. He saw behind her cold exterior and the fact that she keeps people at arm’s length. He saw a woman who he desperately wanted and who wanted him back. He could read her body and knew she was just as interested in him but was fighting it. The reason I liked this was because if it was told by another author, it could have come off as a little bit creepy and stalkerish. Lori King was able to write it in such a way that you rooted for them to be together.
I liked many scenes in this book but the one that had to be my favorite was when Jeannette had to admit why she chose the color of her bedspread.
This is a wonderfully written series by a truly talented author.
Hawke has come to invite Jeanette to an imminent foaling, finally allowed to enter her cabin while he waits for her to change into casual clothing. He reminisces about the one make out session they have had and how there is a molten woman under her cool exterior. While watching the miracle of the birth Jeanette tells him he might feel differently if it were a human baby which would end his playboy ways. Hawke confesses he has not touched another woman since she stole his heart. She denies any attraction or intent towards him, but after the others have left he grabs her, kisses her and she goes up in flames.
His brothers rag him for his unrequited feelings, but also tell Hawke they think he is making headway. Seeing his brothers find happiness in their women gives Hawke ideas for a new plan of attack. Can Hawke convince Jeannette she is the woman for him?
I adore the family-oriented Crawley Creek ranch, where everyone gets a second chance, and love seems to find a way regardless of the hurdles that must be overcome. Enjoy some laughs, shed a few tears, and heat up some sheets reading about the family at Crawley Creek.

I am a total Crawley Creek fan! These ‘brothers’ are hot, tough, tender, and once they fall for their women, they fall hard and all the way! Hawke is no different, but he has a helluva rough road ahead of him where Jeannette is concerned!
Jeannette has heard about Hawke’s exploits with women and she’s not going to fall for his lines, like so many others - right?
Lori King can write angst, love, emotions, sarcasm, and some of the best innuendos you will ever read! If you haven’t read anything by Lori, I highly recommend the Crawley Creek Series. I mean, you can’t go wrong with hot cowboys, strong women and deep, undeniable love…
Another Lori King gem!!
