Directly descended from some of the fastest, most beautiful and most effective military aircraft of the 1930s, the Hawker Hurricane was the RAF's first monoplane fighter, and the hero of the Battle of Britain. This photographic study takes us under the skin of the aircraft, to the very first principles of the design and construction of this beautiful fighter. Using archive and specially taken photographs, many shot behind the scenes at AJD Engineering - Hurricane restoration experts - the author shows in detail how the Hurricane is put together, revealing details rarely seen and providing a useful resource for the modeller and the aviation enthusiast.

This is a cracking publication and appears to be selling at some very inflated prices at other vendors- this copy was reasonably priced at £11.66 plus post. The printing is on glossy and quite thick paper and also the reproduction of the mass of detail photography is of very high quality- someone has gone to a lot of trouble and I say that as a photographer and printer myself. The book covers the development and early models of the Hurricane, but is mostly taken up with very high quality detail shots of various categorized parts of the airframe. This is an essential buy for modellers and artists who are wanting to build/illustrate, flying/static models and also for those working in the virtual world of 3D as I am myself. The quality of the photography is very high and supplementary lighting has been used to fill in the dark shadow areas you'd normally get if you were using a fairly cheap flash. I nearly didn't buy this as the Kindle version on Amazon looked pretty naff, but I decided the information presented would be of great value in any case, however I was pleasantly surprised at the unusual high level of reproduction.
