This is a good remote: solidly made and easy to use without having to look at it. The keys are logically arranged and well-spaced (apart from the numeric keypad, which is small). I have tried it with Windows 7 64-bit Media Centre, and with a Linux-based machine running XBMC: it works flawlessly with both, without having to supply any drivers. Being infra-red, it does require line-of-sight with its receiver, but that is on the end of a 2-metre USB cable, so it can be positioned easily. It came with a copy of WinTV.

Works straight out of the box on my Home Theatre PC running Mythbuntu and Mythtv .25, feels comfy in the hand, solidly made and can withstand being knocked off chair arms, and stood on by over excited children!

There are cheaper compatible remotes out there, but this is by far the best.

Ich suchte eine Fernbedienung für XBMC, die auch mit Linux funktioniert und mit der Logitech Harmony-Universalfernbedienung kompatibel ist.

Mit dem Hauppauge MCE Remote Control Kit bin ich fündig geworden. USB-Empfänger einstöpseln, Batterien in die Fernbedienung einlegen, und sofort ließ sich XBMC unter Linux vernünftig bedienen. Besser geht es nicht!

In der Konfiguration der Logitech Harmony wird die Fernbedienung als "Media Center PC" - "Hauppauge" - "WinTV-PVR-150MCE" eingetragen. Danach ließ sich der PC auch mit der Harmony steuern. Es liegt also weiterhin nur eine Fernbedienung auf dem Wohnzimmertisch.

Die Verarbeitung der Fernbedienung wirkt solide. Der Empfänger wird mit einem recht langen USB-Kabel geliefert, welches allerdings (anders als auf dem Artikelfoto zu sehen) fest angebracht ist. Die Fernbedienung arbeitet auch aus mehreren Metern Entfernung noch zuverlässig. Ich war überrascht, dass auch ein IR-Sender mit zum Lieferumfang gehört. Damit können weitere Geräte (z.B. SAT-Receiver) per USB kontrolliert werden. Ob das unter Linux funktioniert, habe ich allerdings nicht ausprobiert.

Fazit: Die PC-Fernbedienung ist zwar sehr teuer, aber hochwertig und sein Geld wert. Wer eine günstigere Alternative sucht, sollte sich die  Hama MCE Remote Control  anschauen. Nach meinen Recherchen ist es allerdings schwierig, die Harmony zuverlässig auf die Hama-Fernbedienung einzustellen, so dass ich lieber etwas mehr Geld ausgab.

Die Fernbedienung ist optisch gewöhnungbedürftig (Mein 1 Jahr alter Sohn zählt sie schon zu seinen Spielzeugen) funktioniert aber tadellos mit XBMC. Leider fehlt die Funktion eines PWR-ON kabels um damit ein Gerät einschalten zu können.

Gefehlt hat mir nur die Fernbedienung.
In Kombination mit dem Mediacenter von Windows ist die Haupoauge MCE die perfekte Kombination.
Die Installation ist einfach. Die Steuerung per Fernbedienung ist sehr benutzerfreundlich.
Fazit: Wer seinen PC als Mediacenter nutzen will, liegt mit dieser Fernbedinung genau richtig.

Ich hatte diese Fernbedienung bereits. Hab sie aber versehtnlich auf den Ofen gelegt und eingeschmolzen ;) Mein Fehler. Bis dahin tat die remote fuer mehrere Jahre ihren Dienst, weshalb ich die selbe wieder gekauft habe.
