When overactive man-child Malcolm takes the plunge and lets girlfriend Kisha move into his house, he quickly senses they're no longer alone. Videotaping a series of paranormal events, Malcolm is shocked to discover the love of his life carries more than your average relationship baggage: she's demonically possessed by an evil spirit. Malcolm enlists the help of priest/ex-convict Father Williams who sets about exorcising the demon from his girlfriend before it ruints his relationship. Hysterically funny horror-spoof from the creators of the Scary Movie franchise.

The film centres around Malcolm (Marlon Wayans) and Kisha (Essence Atkins), a young couple who move into their dream home, but soon discover that there is a demon also residing there. For fans of Marlon Wayans (a veteran of the 'Scary Movie'), you'll probably appreciate this comedy, which sees his character who, determined to keep his sex life alight with his girlfriend, turns to a priest, a psychic, and a team of ghost-busters for help. Marlon was good, but he couldn't carry out the entire thing on his own. The other players were mostly okay, but more suited to television productions.
I feel that 'A Haunted House', even at just under 90 minutes, could have been cut down by at least 15 minutes, there were times when I was very tempted to hit fast-forward on my remote, but I managed to watch the entire thing. Although there were some bits of real comedy gold, the whole thing felt a little flat to me. It's a completely bizarre, vulgar, and tongue-in-cheek movie, and it was fully intended to be all of those. This is probably one to watch the once with a group of good mates whilst drunk, and to forget about by the following morning.
If you have seen the Paranormal series, you can't help but laugh at this film which includes a gay psychic (Nick Swardson) who is more interested in Malcolm than the ghost; the camera installer (David Koechner) who also is part of "The Ghost guys"; a priest in training (Cedric the Entertainer) and a couple who want a "Mandingo Party."
The humor while crude, I enjoyed, as it wasn't simply crude for crude's sake.
Parental Guidance: F-bomb, N-word, comical sex, nudity.
3.5 rounded up to a 4.
I had few smirks here and there like when Marlon is humping his stuffed toys but there's nothing at all clever in this comedy and I found myself most of the time with my jaw dropped thinking how bad the movie is. For the record I really loved Scary Movie but this movie is just terrible and I struggled to actually get to the end credits. I notice A Haunted House 2 is coming out so I definitely will be giving that one a miss.
