Tales of ghostly goings-on and otherworldly encounters in Greenwich VillageAmong New York City's many treasures is Greenwich Village, a bohemian area filled with creativity and rebellion. Haunted Greenwich Village a collection of stories of ghosts, mysteries, and paranormal happenings in Greenwich Village will leave readers delightfully frightened. Many of the locations are accessible to the public and some are even open for overnight stays for the truly daring including: Washington Square: This upper-class neighborhood is haunted bycelebrity apparitions, the spirits of those buried there, the ghosts of those executed at Hangman's Elm and even a phantom dog.Third Street: The spirit that haunts a block here sometimes parks his horse and carriage directly in front of NYU's D'Agostino Residence Hall. This famous early American politician and his daughter, who disappeared at sea, have even disrupted a restaurant about four blocks away in the West Village."

HASH(0x9f9712e8) out of 5 stars Haunting tales of a fascinating New York City neighborhood 10 Dec. 2012

I must qualify this review of "Haunted Greenwich Village" up front with the fact that my wife and I are acknowledged in its pages for our help in researching the book. However, although we have lived in the East Village for over 20 years - and my wife in New York City all her life - we were amazed at what we didn't know about Greenwich Village and learned from reading this book. We both found it to be a gripping retelling of traditional and offbeat ghost stories, but based on historical events and characters. Well worth the read, whether to learn more about New York City or the supernatural.
