It isn't any time at all before the two fall into a pattern of visiting all their old favorite spots just to promise to never let it happen again. When a harsh winter front causes the town to shut down will Jenny and Carter finally find the truths they didn't want to see so they have a chance at a future? Or will one ridiculous misunderstanding after another cause us to believe Carter is just the most unlucky, gullible, wimp ever born? Yet, ten years later Carter is still ridiculously unlucky and gullible, falling for all the same pathetic attempts to keep him from Jenny.
It literally became painful to read.
I started off liking this book. However I began skipping paragraphs, skimming chapters then finally went all the way to chapter thirty-eight and it’s only the wedding reception! A total of forty chapters to cover only a few days is just too much manusha for me but if your into getting into the weeds, then this may be the story for you.
I am leaving this review for your consideration. Peace.
I am new to discovering Aubrey Wright and I am hooked to her and her books. She does an amazing job telling a story, connecting you to the characters, and hooking you from the very beginning.
This was a duo POV told from both Carter and Jenny. 15 years ago Jenny and Carter were together, he was her first. They broke up because Carter cheated on her or so Jenny thought. Sometimes there more to what you see and what you think you saw. Carter says he would never do that. Now Carter is back in town to attend his best friend Sam’s wedding as the best man. Sam just so happens to be Jenny's brother. So he know she will see her and be in close proximity to her throughout the wedding events. He left 15 years prior after the whole Jenny thinks she cheated on him scandal. Jenny also left town too and now is coming back for the wedding. She hates Carter for what he did to her but there is a thin line between love and hate. I don't think she hates him she just very heartbroken and upset that he cheated on her. Or did he? That's the million dollar question here.
Now that they are back in the same town in close proximity and Sam telling Carter to not go near Jenny. He can't resist. He has always said that he never cheated and he still harbors feelings for Jenny. He never really has gotten over her. She saw what she saw or did she? She says she hates him but I don't think that's true. There is love there because she hasn't gotten over him either.
These two have chemistry is spades and Sam telling them to stay away from each other is makes him want to give into temptation. There also the weird Peter Crass and the chick Carter was said to cheat on Jenny with. What is up with them? Will Jenny be willing to risk the chance of being hurt again for the chance of Carter's love? I think this is a good full or lies, deceit and love. Will love conquer all? Or will Jenny be heartbroken again? I loved it and was hooked from the start. One click this one today!
