The kids spend all their time picking out cards that have fallen out, knocking down surrounding cards in the process, and then getting the answer wrong. And it also makes setting up for a new game slow and laborious, as if you flick the set upside down, (as suggested) to rest it, all the cards fall out, and you have to set it all up again. The pictures are a lot smaller than the old game too, so that you can hardly see some features, like earrings, or lip colour.
Such a shame - I'm very disappointed.
The build quality is shocking. So flimsy and poorly made. Most of the parts are not even removed from the plastic moulding. It actually recommends in the instructions that after snapping the peices out you file down the rough edges with sand paper!!?? It's not an airfix model!!! How about the manufacturers build it and kids play it?
If I can find the original on ebay or somewhere i'll buy that version because this won't last 5 minutes.
I ought to know better than to revisit anything from my own childhood but, well, I had mentioned to my little friends how much I used to enjoy 'Guess Who?' when I was younger. I know kids are much more sophisticated these days and I always imagine they too can hear the music from that 'Hovis' ad when I start reminiscing like that but, surprisingly, they showed so much enthusiasm for the thing that it fell into my supermarket trolley very shortly afterwards. In my naivety, I did assume that the words 'The ORIGINAL Guessing Game' on the front of the box meant that it would closely resemble the game I remembered so fondly... which was, what you might call, my first mistake.
When it says 'Adult Assembly Required', it is really not joking. I wouldn't dream of claiming to be Brentwood's answer to Aristotle, but I had to read the instructions a dozen times at least before I could make any sense of them. And even then, I needed the nine year old to translate them into something resembling English for me. Putting these two boards together could, quite comfortably, have been a nice little challenging round on 'The Krypton Factor'.Read more ›
It is really disappointing as the game is fantastic and so great at helping childrens reasoning skills and comprehension. There is a
killer question 'does he have facial hair' ie moustache or beard which will win most games though.
The build quality is abysmal and we are on our third version as it falls apart.
I would buy a better made deluxe or 'special' edition like a shot if it was available but this set is so poorly made it feels like a complete waste of money.
The majority of the time my children played the game they were trying to keep the cards inside their frames....and got bored.
THis quality is not acceptable and a great game is unplayable.

Fond memories of this great game from my childhood. My children loved it just as much as I did I'm happy to say. We were all squealing with laughter throughout. Read morePublished 1 month ago by miss reviewer
Good game but absolutely abysmal assembly instructions!! Diagrams all very unclear and the first instruction is to snap off lots of plastic tabs! Is this 2016 or 1976?? Read morePublished 2 months ago by Elaine
