Format: Hardcover
First rate collection of Harvey Horror comics - Chamber of Chills. A 'pleasure' (if that is the word for horror) to read. The comics are very hard to find so this new reprint series is just right.

Zillions of horror comics were created during the 50s, not all are worth checking out but this series produced some really decent tales

From a historical view point its geat to see a publishing company take the time to release these books and package them so attractively. The Binding and paper stock is of high quality and the Hard cover very enticing, unfortunately the same cannot be said of the original stories and artwork, mostly purile and clumsy, Bob Powel being one of the few exceptions.
The colour scans (public domain) are quite dark and muddy compared to American releases of the same stories in other anthologies such as Four colour Fear and the Ditko Archives.
The rather uneccerssary intro by Joe Hill tells us nothing of the History of Harvey Publications but almost seems to be trying to con the reader into accepting the poor quality of the contents as nostalgic treasures from the crypt, which they most certainly are not. Far superior and much better representations of 50's American Horror Comics are the GemStone releases of The E.C. Titles Tales from the Crypt, etc. Allthough recoloured but retaining the original style of the comics. Unforunately out of print but hopefully soon to be resurrected.
