Some real heart stopping moments
22 August 2017
It was a welcome change to find that for once, a book's title was entirely appropriate. Annasuya's life is turned upside down and inside out by the brutal rape committed by her boss. This monster then turns out to be a complete psycho who's intent on her destruction. I can completely understand why women don't report rape to the police. Going through the process and, ultimately, a court trial, must be akin to being raped all over again. It was an exquisite element to the book that Annasuya's boyfriend believed her and stuck by her. For me, that made this story extra special. I took all the characters, (well, the goodies!), to my heart; Annasuya, Calvin, Romeo and Lindsay are all highly lovable. The writing is good, moving the story along at a brisk and consistent pace. There are plenty of "ohmigd no!" moments when you have to hold your breath and read really quickly to get to the 'what happens next' bit. Well written and well constructed, I have no hesitation in recommending this book.
