This is essentially a factual recounting of the events leading up to, and consequential to the Harrow accident. The detail is impressive, including many contemporary photos, but the telling is rather dry. 'Red for Danger' it isn't. To be fair, the author does not set out to tell the story of the accident, including the rescue and clear up operations, in anything but a factual manner. If you are fascinated by accidents in general, but the Harrow disaster in particular, this is a useful addition to the bookshelf.

I have been interested in this accident for a number of years and have never found an account of post disaster details. Peter Tatlow gives a graphic account of the accident and the clearing up operation. What happened afterwards is what makes his book different from the others.

This tragic accident and the huge impact it had on many peoples lives has been written in a sensitive and caring manner. The author has gone to great lengths in order to gather a mass of information on the technical aspects of the crash and has created a book which contains a good balance of technical detail and personal memories.

A thoroughly interesting read. I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in railway accidents.

A very thorough book with many good photographs. A really interesting subject although some of the chapters are just a little too 'technical' and you find you have to read and reread to understand fully what is being said. However overall recommended - and a must for any 'officianado' of the subject.

A very comprehensive and complete history of this tragedy. Many black and white illustrations. We still will never know why
the Perth Sleeper ran through red signals.

Clearly well researched from information now available, a really interesting book on this subject where even now it has not been possible to establish why the driver did what he did.
