Interesting commentaries by Gavin on each song, as well as a few supplement essays on patterns of interest for each particular song.
Considering the superior transcriptions by Branham, this book is a great success. Porcupine Tree decoded, it doesn't get any more interesting than that.
The book is HARD. I'm no super drummer, so I use the transcriptions as interesting exercises, often spending a lot of time on 4, 8 bars at a time. My reading is improving. Also, the finesse of Gavin's playing is having an interesting effect, as my playing becomes, how to say, smaller, more efficient, tighter. I find trying to record/video record the tracks to be key to getting the right sound and making progress.
Another book that I will probably be working from for years.
