Technically it IS polythene backed and so should prevent soak-through but don't be fooled by the 'cotton twill' description as it's nothing like the other cotton twill dustsheets I have. In fact, I'm surprised Harris even describe it as such.
The cotton weave is very wide so if the polythene wasn't there, you could stick your fingers between the weave of the threads!
They do give a 'closer' photo of the cotton twill side in the description but it is quite misleading because the actual weave looks wider in real life and the picture they use looks like it's been taken against a matching coloured background which makes it look more like a true cotton cloth when it actually isn't. If you hold the actual cloth up to the light it's virtually see-through!
I'll certainly not be buying these again - you might as well save a few quid and buy a cheap plastic sheet or tarpaulin as these are IMHO as far from being a cotton dustsheet as I could imagine. I've used Harris products before (brushes, rollers etc) but if their standards are dropping this low, I'll buy other brands of better quality in future and pay the extra for PROPER cotton dustcloths.
