They sound fantastic... for a while. But there is clearly a manufacturers fault. I've had two pairs now, and in both cases the left channel has developed problems with high frequencies within six months of new. I can hear movement of parts in left speaker that effects the high frequencies. The effect is frustrating and ruins the listening experience.
Amazon were great in replacing the first pair. Now I'm hoping I can get a full refund to spend my money on another brand.
So disappointed as these were by far my preferred choice.
When activated, such as in a train, you're back to silence again... The battery lasts very long, and charges pretty fast.
Nothing bad to say. Like another comment says, you do hear the wires when they move or hit you/the frame, but it is not a problem AT ALL.
Indeed, I was hesitating because of this, but if you do, I assure you it's not an issue !
Go for it !
Look the part
Good all-round sound quality
No way near bass-heavy enough
They creak constantly
The chord rustles loudly on your body
As I said, there's zero denying these look awesome. In fact, they "look" better than most headphones. There's the name too. Harman-Kardon - it is associated with high end audio. The sound quality is lovely. I left the noise cancelling off the above pros/cons because it is (in my opinion) average at best.
The biggest frustration with these is the constant creaking from the ear-piece surrounds. The nifty looking aluminium-plastic composition lends itself to the most annoying constant creaking you could imagine. Move your jaw - creak. Move your head - creak. Twitch your ears - creak!! Arghhhh - so frustrating. You'll find it hard to ignore. Add to this the fact that the cord rustles against your body and the NC function seems to enhance that....you start to get pretty annoyed.
I'd like the bass in my headphones to at the very least - give me a bit of a kick...but there's not much to get excited about with these. Shame. Real shame.
For the best part of £200....I expected SO MUCH MORE!
Wish I'd gone for the Bose!
GOOD - stylish
POOR - everything else
Very uncomforable wearing. They sit either to tight (with the small changeable headpiece) or too loose (with the big one). The small gives you pain, the big one lets outside noise in. I can wear Bose for 9 hours, and these for 1 hour max.
Noise Cancelling - clearly inferior to Bose. I'd say they reduce noise only half as good as the Bose headphones, that's just not sufficient.
Poor sound insulation - whatever touches the headphones (your shirt collar, the music cabel, the headrest of your airplane seat, ...) sends a nasty scratching noise right into your ear. Very distracting.
Poor quality - after only few months of use, something went loose in the right ear cup. Now clicking noises all the time.
Unpractical - you need two cables, one for music, the other proprietary one for charging the internal battery. Bose is much better, just insert a standard battery.
Horrible service - I lost the music cabel in the plane. Difficult even to get the customer service responding. I had to prepay 50 Euro (!). And then... nothing. It took them full six months (!!!) to send me a new cabel, and it took me countless e-mails and phone calls. What use is a headphone when you can't listen to music!?
I'm completely disappointed with Harman Kardon. Once a great brand, this product of them is shame. Do not buy it. Go for Bose. They are worth the money.
They're classy, metal, solid. And, to me, they sound great. I know about treble, bass, and loudness. I don't know about top heavy or other nuanced terminology.
Importantly, these are rechargeable. The QC15s ate batteries, as if you're busy, like me, you put them down and forget to turn the noise cancelling function off. Bingo. A few cycles of doing this and you have to replace the battery.
Don't follow the crowd with the Bose (which sound great and the noise cancelling is fine), buy these instead and save yourself £90.
