About the Author

CD Reiss is a USA Today bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up, she's at the well, hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it gave her a big enough ego to try her hand at novels. She'll tell you all about it in the back, where a cord of wood awaits.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Well well what can I say?? I haven't read Cd's work in a year #sigh why? I don't know, just one book leads to another and I've been batshitcrazy this year, butttt I've kept my eyes on this one. Being that Sports romance is a go to genre for me I wanted to see how one of my favourite authors took this in her own way... I'm happy I dived in cause boy is this book kind of refreshing, different, unique... Those are the kinds of words I'd describe this book...

This is about a Man whom needs control in his life, structure is how he lives ALWAYS!! It's how he breathes, how he understands HIMSELF and the world he lives in. And baseball is how he controls his urges.. Yet he bumps into Vivian the Librarian who he needs her help on finding a lucky charm that's in his glove that went missing, he needs her help and she's attracted to him in more ways than one...

Vivian
Vivian is a quirky Librarian that absorbs literature and enjoys the likes of Shakespeare which by chances so does DASH. She's poetic, is loved by her step father and lives a normalish life, she has stability. But then Dash walks into her life and gahhhh she is eloquently striked by Dash's testosterone, she starts to enjoy Dash's umm Qualities.. But above all she's a strong kickass heroine that holds her head up at all times.

Dash
Dash is what I'd describe as a flawed hero, he has many layers, he needs CONTROL just know that. Think Jonathan Drazen and think strength, that's what comes to mind with Dash. Cd has done what I love in her storytelling. In this book you'll have a Sports themed story done in a unique way. I LOVED IT! It's Poetic, it's sexy and raw... But it's also emotional at the same time..

So the question is will their lifestyles mix? Can they be a couple? Can they compromise? Overall this was a delicious mix of everything including the Shakespeare quotes which I adored and highlighted myself and the way Cd made me ride the story out with them.

Enjoy

I have been itching to read this ever since it was first released. Having read and loved all of CD Reiss's previous work, I had high expectations and yet again I was not disappointed. I absolutely loved "HardBall." Dash and Vivian's story is easily one of my top reads of the year so far and my favourite standalone from this author. If you haven't yet read anything from CD Reiss but cannot invest the time in a series I highly recommend putting "HardBall" at the top of your TBR.

"HardBall" follows the story of sexy baseball player, Dash Wallace and local school librarian Vivian. I loved the premise of the story and as I began to read it, I realised that things were a little more complex than I had first anticipated, which I enjoyed. Dash, especially was a character who I was really interested in and I couldn't wait to get inside his head. I was so glad that I got to read part of the story from Dash's POV. It opened my eyes to his thought processes and his internal struggles as Dash battled with the feelings that meeting Vivian provoked.

I loved Vivian's character. I have probably said this before about CD Reiss but when it comes to creating fantastic book heroins, she is the boss! Vivian was in no way a clichéd librarian. She was gutsy and strong. A woman that stood up for what she believed in, but she also had sensitive side too which at times left her feeling a little vulnerable. Despite this, I admired Vivian's demeanour towards Dash and I was willing for everything to work out between the pair.

When Dash entered Vivian's life, he was like Prince Charming coming to rescue her from her from her dreary life (well not quite like that but almost. Lol!). I was so excited and I couldn't wait to watch their relationship play out.

When a book is a good one it matters not what the setting, the content stands on its own merit, I am no aficionado when it comes to baseball so much of the terminologies are completely lost on me but what I did get was the fact that no matter the circumstance, no matter the personalities, no matter the impact, when Vivian walked into Dash’s life, his structured way was never going to be the same again.
Vivian is a fan, a super fan so to speak and there is nothing that she doesn’t know about both Dash and his teammates…or so she thinks because the almost elusive Dash is certainly a man that doesn’t let the outside world get too close.
So she was completely blown away when he was on the field when her little group of kids rocked up for a meet and greet session. Trying to keep a professional appearance up, Vivian the Librarian does everything she can to remain in control and to keep her alter ego “Vivian the fan” carefully subdued but it’s pretty hard going when Dash is right before her.
Good thing her little group of kids are able to keep her feet firmly on the ground because nothing smacks down a rumbling libido more than a toilet break that cannot wait!
Anyway when she leaves, she believes that her all but brief encounter with the delicious Dash is over, that is until he turns up at the library trying to enlist her help to track down his missing glove.
Now to most, a man of means like him should have no problem with replacing a glove but Dash is no normal man, he has issues and it is only by controlling his actions and every aspect of his environment that he is able to function almost. The glove is just the tip of the iceberg it the item it contains that he is having a problem being without, it is a tie to his past that he cannot sever.
