The four characters each attend a therapy group and its decided they should take a group road trip, so much happens, each conversation opens a little more of each character. I have a bit of a soft spot for Barb, she is a snarky smartarse -what's not to love!!! Christopher is the bitter, angry ex serviceman, who really doesn't want to be there, Connor the sweet teen with a heart-breaking prognosis, and sunny Jillian, the one who always looks for the bright side in every situation.
This is the kind of book that makes you want to be a better person, more open and understanding. What we see of each character is not the sum total of who they are and what they have either been through or are going through. You will find yourself reassessing how you think and look at other people.
Open your heart and let this book in. You will not regret it!
I thought at first it was a little strange to get into, however it didn't take long before i was completely hooked. What an absolutely fantastically written book. You will need a box of tissues and although i only finished this yesterday i still tear up thinking about it. Such a weird mix of characters but i loved all of them. At the end there is a little note from the author explaining how it came about, i am so glad i got this. There aren't enough stars for this book, it's just amazing.
It is essentially about a road trip featuring 4 individuals who met in a group therapy group. They all have their own issues and are encouraged to travel across America, in the hope that they will grow, learn and have fun.
The group encounter all sorts of experiences - some more positive than others. This is a complete departure from Sawyer Bennett's other books, but it is so well-written and I could not put the book down. What a triumph!!
It's a great read
