Initially i was really impressed with this case. It's very solid and i suspect it will take a lot of abuse. I volunteer as a motorsport medic so spend most weekends in the back of a 4x4 covered in mud and oil, so this case stands up well.

The case is very heavy - felt the urge to take it out the case when back home as it really became clumsy to use day to day.

After a couple of weeks the button started causing problems, it would either not work, so could not do anything that required the button, or it would randomly trigger Siri - including in the middle of the night.

Now about 3 months in, the iPad is next to useless in the case - the button is a total mare.

The charging port is also badly deigned as the catch to open it is in the middle so rests on the charger when plugged in and puts pressure on it, which i suspect after 6 months or so will start to damage the charging cable.

All in all disappointed as the case is great, but soon becomes unworkable with the button.

Hoping to return it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Bargain Armor Tough Case for those on a budget 25 Feb. 2016

We are pretty pleased with the overall quality of this case for the price, we just changed over to a newer iPad mini so wanted something for my sons new mini. Anyway first impressions is that it isn't quite a otterbox copy. The main reason for that is that the Otter has actually 3 pieces...an completely encapsulated interior shell that has two pieces, front and back that snap together over your iPad. This device has only two pieces a front plastic frame and then the wrap around silicon/rubber/flubber material. Though not quite as tough as the Otter I think this will hold up very well as the rubber seems a bit thicker on the back side at least then the Otters. I do wish the corners were a little bit thicker and more protected and the access port to the lightning cable is a bit odd as it seems to put a little extra strain on the cord when it is charging. My kid does like the overall look of the case as it is one of the better looking extra tough cases out there and the ribs make it super easy to hold with a LOT more grip then the Otter cases. For the price I picked up two and still had enough change left over for a gift card for the iTunes store so overall I am very very happy with this product. The color seems to be a a little bit darker than what is pictured and the buttons are very easy to access. The fingerprint reader is still easy to access by lifting up on the rubber home protector as well. Style 5 stars Cost 5 stars Protection 4 stars Durability/Quality 4 stars
5.0 out of 5 stars Impressed! 13 Mar. 2015

Perfect for our needs! We had a different case on our iPad Mini that fell apart within a few months. As my teen sons use the iPad Mini to play games, it's gets a lot of wear and tear. This Hard Candy Shockdrop Rugged Case case has held up to the use and abuse without having any visible signs of wear or damage. Gives me more peace of mind, for sure!

Also love the color scheme, texture and feel of the case. It's easy to grip and the port covers are sturdy, too. Definitely going to be purchasing this style case for our other tech products.

When I decided to purchase an iPad Mini for my 4 year old, the very first accessory I bought was a Hard Candy Case.
This Shockdrop case has a hard lime green plastic shell which covers the entire front border and wraps around the edges of the iPad Mini. The hard plastic shell is then covered with a thick black textured rubber that help to prevent damage and slippage.

There is a removable built in screen protector that is attached to the hard plastic case. The screen protector has saved against liquid spills and food smears. Just a quick wipe off with a damp paper towel and it's clean. All of the ports (charging and headphone) are covered by movable rubber flaps. The power & volume, & home buttons are all equally covered by easily accessible bumps in the rubber.

I would not hesitate to recommend this product, and I will by another Hard Candy Case in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'd give it 6 Stars if I could 16 April 2014

My family abuses this case. I bought it after researching every case on the market a year ago. We have owned it for a year and I should state the primary user is a toddler. We bought an iPad mini for him to watch videos on the long rides to the Grandparents houses & flights. Due to a 45 min commute in the morning we let him watch Thomas, play some games etc in the car also. This case has been eaten over, thrown up on, thrown across rooms, dropped, stepped on and jumped on. Not that we encourage these activities but since our toddler is a very active, energetic boy these things happen. I'm amazed every time I take the iPad out that it still looks brand new. It's not that hard to take the iPad out and the design hasn't inspired our toddler to try. It cleans up easily also. I just take the pieces, put them in the sink with dish soap and let it air dry overnight. The rubber exterior makes the case easy to prop up without slipping (think airline seat trays) but can gather crumbs or lint if the bag you carry it in isn't clean. It is easy to wipe down (baby wipes) so not an issue for us. The plastic that protects the screen does not interfere with the touch ability at all.

I've used both Otterbox and Griffin Survivor cases in the past, and I think this one is better than both of those. It provides the same type of protection, but is slimmer, and more attractive. It fits the iPad mini with retina display (AKA iPad Mini 2) perfectly.
