Cole and Mackenzie, aka Mack, have been friends since childhood and are like family to each other. Mackenzie knows all about Cole’s womanizing ways and makes it pretty clear she would never date him, or someone like him. Mackenzie is motivated, smart, and has set some important life goals for herself.
Cole finally has his break as a pitcher in the major league. An injury threatens to throw all of that off track, but Mackenzie is in school to become a physical therapist so she agrees to move in with him to assist with his rehabilitation. Seems simply enough, or is it…
Cole starts having hot and steamy dreams about Mackenzie and he can’t stop thinking about her as more than friends. It’s clear they are attracted to each other and one thing leads to another, they find themselves in foreign territory where their friendship is concerned. Can being more than friends work for them?
The chemistry is amazing between these two, the romantic scenes are hot and it’s clear these two make a great team. I love them together and it’s fun to see them navigate this new adventure.
This was a fun, short, sweet, sexy read that leaves you smiling and wanting more. What’s not to love about a feel-good story!
Title: Hard Ball
Author: Heather Stone
Genre: Contemporary Sports Romance, Friends to Lovers
This was a quick fast paced read that's filled with sexual tension between two friends, when it explodes and trust me it does it's extremely hot and steamy making this one sexy read.
The main characters Cole and Mackenzie are best friends they've known each since they were kids, I thought the way their relationship was portrayed was very good you could really feel the connection between them both everything felt genuine and real, from the banter that flowed between them to their feelings and thoughts regarding how their relationship was changing.
Like I've already said this is a fast paced read and in my opinion that's it's only downfall, it was just a bit too fast paced bringing the timing of certain aspects into question.
Overall Hard Ball is a really good sports themed friends to lovers story with a twist in it that even I didn't see coming. It was hot and sexy and when I say that what I really mean is it was SUPER HOT and SEXY!! I'd have liked a bit more drama but all in all a decent read.
I ended up loving Cole. The friendship between him and Mckenzie is solid and I'm a sucker for a friends to lovers romance. This is a quick, fast paced romance that I really enjoyed.
Cole Callahan is a baseball star. He has the world at his feet & women at his beck & call.
His best friend in the whole world is Mackenzie. She knows just what he is like, but still thinks the world of him.
When he is injured she goes to stay with him. She is training to be a physio, so she is well equipped for the task.
This is where the story turns into a real romance.
I hadn’t read any of Heather Stone’s books before, but I will definitely read more.
A short but sexy little read that hit the ground running and didn’t actually give much of a chance to take stock of what was happening, I found that I had to slow myself down with this one because on more than one occasion I thought I had missed something.
The basic story is one that is actually quite sweet but that is not to say that you will like Cole straight off the bat because dang the guy certainly knew how to get my heckles up. My feelings towards him initially were verging towards contempt at some points but they seemed to settle at just dislike a little longer than I was happy with.
Mackenzie on the other hand was a character that I could get to grips with, she was willing to step up and help her friend in his time of need but would it be an offer she would regret?
Cole was the big-time baseball played but in my book, Mackenzie was the bigger person, she placed his needs first and I only hoped that she wouldn’t be disappointed by him.
Was I??? Well let’s just say that this is a friendship that has found a new dimension … horizontal!
I missed some of the details and I think that is because in my opinion the author rushed certain sections but overall I have to say that this was a sweet read that wasn’t all plain sailing.
