This was another scorcher from Laura Kaye.

Both the characters and the back story have such depth, you could very much wonder if this was a true story, even though we know its not.

Nick is the ultimate in sexy. An ex special forces man who is also a tattoo artist with a kind and loyal heart. It is not only an injury that causes him pain, but betrayal from his commander that he had trusted. I would love to gets my hands on this man thats for sure.

Becca is also a very strong individual. Its nice to have a female character than falls to pieces when things fall apart around her. When she needs to she can put everything aside and focus on what she needs to even if she is scared. The chemistry between both Nick and Becca was undeniably hot.

The other members of the Hard Ink team are also awesome. Jeremy is a cool brother and has a good sense of humour. The other members of Nicks team are a good bunch of guys even if they look intimidating and it was good to see the familiarity and loyalty they showed each other when they needed to, even if there was hostility between them at first.

I must admit, I'm gutted that I have waited so long to read this awesome-sauce book.

MY REVIEW
This book has so much packed into it making it a fast paced read that has you sucked in right till the very end, leaving you wanting more.
Crammed with mystery, romance, intrigue and suspense, along with a group of sexy ex-special forces soldiers attempting to clear their names making this book is awesome.
I really want Nick Rixey to tattoo me!
I loved the connection that Becca and Nick have and the way it grows in intensity as they work together to solve the Mystery of her missing brother. Nick and Becca are drawn to each other both fighting to do the right thing they have this wonderful push pull relationship that has you on the edge of will they wont they.
I adored Eileen so cute.
I found that as the team digs deeper into their quest for answers surrounding Charlie and the commander, they find themselves with more questions than answers. Leaving you as the reader devouring this book to see if the mystery's are uncovered, but in the end your left still panting for more of those answers and needing to read the next book to see how it all turns out!
A great read.

A slightly expensive read but a good one, a bit quick though. It's more than just a boy meets girl scenario. It actually has an interesting and fairly topical story to tell.
The boy centres around Nick, an ex special forces soldier struggling with being betrayed by his commander and having to leave the army life he loved.
A girl comes to him for help, she's Becca, his commander's daughter, her brother has been kidnapped. He doesn't want to help, why should he help the daughter of the man who took everything from him? But he gets drawn in and eventually calls his special forces comrades in to help.
So to sum up ~ hot guys, special forces, beautiful girl needing protection, tattoos, bad guys, gangs, drugs, smuggling, sex, kidnapping... a veritable smorgasbord to read.
Can't wait to read the next one.

so many alpha male's, this book had me gripped from the start, nothing better than a man that has ink even better if he does the inking and an ex soldier on top of that. the story that emerges between Nick and Becca is hot and consuming and I'm so looking forward to the next book in March. I would recommend this book definitely.

This book was an okay read, I think the writing could have been cropped a bit as it took quite a while to get to the point of the book, I got into the story straight away but there were pointless bits and pieces that I found myself skipping through and those i did read bored me. Once the story got going it was actually quite good and I was sucked into the story but then the boring pointless little bits were put in and I would begin to lose interest. The action part of the book was good but the story line is going to carry on into book 2 and this put me off a bit as I wanted to know who was responsible.
All the characters were good, interesting and fully formed. I will read the next in the series.

This was my first Laura Kaye read and it certainly won't be by last. Laura kaye writes strong characters, amazing alpha males with a hidden depth and some good suspense.

Becca's brother is missing, feared kidnapped and he's left her a cryptic message about her colonel father's old team mate. Becca heads to Hard Ink to find Nick Rixey. Nick wants nothing to do with the traitorous commander's daughter. But he can't leave it there.

I thoroughly enjoyed the plot, characters and writing. Great steam and chemistry. Looking forward to reading more from this series.

I absolutely loved everything about this book, from start to finish! I loved Nick & Becca's relationship and their relationships with the other characters. Lots of humor, a bit of aggravation and a few tears. I can't wait to read Shane's story next!

When a book has you wiping away a tear at 2% in, you know you are on to a winner and this was certainly the case for Hard As It Gets. I was excited to read this mainly because it was a Laura Kaye and she just `gets' what women want in an alpha hero. Nick Rixey is so hot he nearly blew my kindle up!

Becca Merritt is an ER nurse which straight away tells you she is a caring and nurturing kind of person so when he younger brother, Charlie, goes missing she will do everything she can to find him. Charlie has left a cryptic note which points her to the Hard Ink Tattoo parlour and Nick Rixey.

Nick Rixey has been through a year of hell after being betrayed by his ex CO. He and four of his band of Special Forces brothers are out of the army and six are dead. So he has kept himself to himself, working with his brother Jer at the parlour until that day Becca Merritt walks in asking for his help. He turns her down flat in no uncertain terms. How could he help the woman who happens to be the daughter of his double crossing CO? It was this part that teared me up - he was so darn harsh to Becca and I just felt for her all alone with no one to turn to.

But then Nick has this nagging doubt that won't go away so he sets up a recon outside her home and happens to be there when an intruder gets in her house. He then knows that something is off and decides to help her. To do that he needs to call in his brothers in arms which is going to be difficult as he had broken off all contact after their `discharge' all those months ago.
