About the Author

Eric Brent, founder and director of HappyCow, first had the idea to create an online guide to vegan restaurants in the late 90s. As a 20-plus year vegan who has traveled to more than 50 countries, Brent knows firsthand how difficult it can be to find "safe" food upon arriving in a new city. More than a decade after launch, HappyCow.com garners about 850,000 visitors per month and helps vegans and vegetarians all over the world find great food nearby. Glen Merzer is coauthor with Del Sroufe of Better Than Vegan, with Pamela A. Popper, PhD, ND of Food Over Medicine, with Howard Lyman of Mad Cowboy, with Howard Lyman and Joanna Samorow-Merzer of No More Bull!, and with Chef AJ of Unprocessed. The HappyCow cookbook is a brilliant resource for anyone who wants to cook vegan good that tastes great. For vegans and non vegans alike, it provides some really good ideas in the recipes that are full of flavour. There isn't a hint of blandness to anything that I have tried yet.

Some of the recipes aren't that quick to make, and you need time to prepare them. I kind of expected this though as these recipes are taken from vegan and veggie chefs restaurants. However, there also some quite easy ones, so there is a good mixture of things according to what event you are cooking for. The recipes are from around the world, so there is probably something for most people there.

What makes this book extra special is not just the recipes but there are also talks with the chefs from the professional kitchens / restaurants.

Overall it's a really good recipe book, and there are many recipes that most people would enjoy whether they are vegan or not.

Absolutely thrilled with this book after using the Happy Cow website to find vegan restaurants and cafes all over the world for years.

Happy Cow cookbook has selected some of the best vegan restaurants scattered around the globe with recipes and interviews with the owners. It's a brilliant way to enjoy flavours dishes from lots of different places without even having to leave my own kitchen.

I've been enjoying new ideas for recipes, both raw and cooked. There is something for everyone and they all seem pretty easy to follow so far. Great for vegans, vegetarians, with wonderful ideas for entertaining guest on any sort of diet.

Lots of lovely recipes interspersed with interviews with the chefs who created them. You don't have to be vegan to enjoy vegan food. These recipes show the versatility of vegetables, pulses and grains. Some of the recipes require specialist equipment and ingredients that might need more tracking down than most veg, but there is plenty in there that's straightforward.

I can't say I'm over impressed. Maybe because I'm not a jet setter and I don't fly around the world visiting
expensive Restaurants where Chef's 'create'. I think I might find it hard to emulate their creations.
