Pete wants a PEW, a pink eared white mouse, and every Saturday or Mouseday he asks his parents and they say no. So he decides to hide a mouse in his tree house where no-one goes, and that's fine until a high wind blows the tree and house down.Only 64pages long with lots of B&W illustrations, so just a good length for a new reader and a charming little tale to get started on.

Happy Mouseday is about a young boy who wants a pet mouse, but hs mum and dad won't let him have one. So he decides to get one on the way home from school with his friend, and he looks after it in his tree-house. I liked this book because I liked the mouse, which was called Nice. By Freya, aged 7.

Pete wants a pet mouse more than anything else in the world. Every Saturday - his `Mouseday' - he asks his parents for one, and each time the answer is "No". But who's going to know if he secretly keeps a mouse in his tree-house? That's exactly what he does... This book is brilliant for children aged 5 - 7 because first of all it is funny. Second, it is simple and third it is easy to read. This book is a perfect combination for little kids in KS1 by Dick King Smith. I would rate this great book a little 7/ 10.
