Review

"The books are attractively laid out, with ample color photographs and maps that supplement the text...a solid series for middle and high school history collections...Recommended."

Top Customer Reviews

Format: Library Binding
Clifford Mills's portrayal of Hannibal for young readers is readable and entertaining, but, alas, also full of errors, misinformation, fabrications, and fantasies. It is a shame that the author had to combine fantasies with uncritically accepted Roman propaganda to create a portrait that careful research would have rendered more accurate. Young readers may enjoy this book, but are advised to seek out more factual accounts in the (also highly readable) works by Serge Lancel, Sir Gavin de Beer, Pedro Barcelo, and Karl Christ, to name just a few of the excellent researchers who have produced outstanding biographies of Hannibal.
