Product Description

From the Back Cover

Hannah's heart beat with a mother's love long before she was blessed with a child. Through the years of waiting and longing, her gentle heart was nearly crushed under the weight of grief. You can meet Hannah in the pages of 1 Samuel, chapters 1 and 2. The Bible says she was "barren," and we know she suffered heartache, anguish, and grief because of her empty arms. Perhaps you do too. Hannah's Hope is for all who long for a child yet to be conceived, grieve for a baby too soon passed from the womb, or have lived through the no-man's-land of failed adoption. It is intended as a guide to assist you in making wise decisions as you struggle through your grief. And by the end of the journey, God may surprise you by the ways He uses to answer your heart's cry. Compassionately written by a woman who knows well these painful struggles, Hannah's Hope will direct you to the Source of strength, whose name is "the God of all comfort."

About the Author

Jennifer Saake and her husband, Rick, are the founders of Hannah's Prayer Ministries (www.hannah.org), a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help women who are infertile or have suffered miscarriage or adoption loss. Since their infertility battle began in 1992, the Saakes have lost ten children via miscarriages and failed adoption attempts and have been blessed with two living miracles.

Jennifer Saake has lovingly written a book to encourage readers to cling to the promises of God found in the Bible whilst living through the pain of infertility and miscarriage. She generously and humbly recounts her own experiences which I found so helpful. Ultimately this book made me praise Jesus Christ as I saw how He lovingly drew Jennifer Saake to Himself and His word during her suffering, giving her comfort and hope.

This book helped me personally to focus on the character of the God of the Bible after I experienced a miscarriage (and helped my husband too as I read the best bits out to him!). I would highly reccomend this book both to Christians who need support to look to their Saviour and also to those who don't know God and are desperately seeking meaning and answers in their times of pain.

This book gives hope to all, whether you are someone who has experienced infertility, miscarriage or adoption loss, or are are friend of someone and find it hard to understand the surrounding issues, and feel at a loss how to support your friend. Jennifer Saake's approach combines personal story and honesty with spiritual wisdom from a balanced perspective. She also offers a Godly approach to medical issues dilemmas, whilst acknowledging there is no absolute format for every couple. One of the most interesting features of this book is the section at the end of each chapter aimed at friends or family members, giving them ideas of how to support their loved ones who are going through these challenges. It is a book which should be made widely available, especially in Churches, as a useful tool for pastors to help them support others, and to pass on to those who would benefit much from its wisdom and compassion. Thank you Jennifer! It was an amazing chance find for me.

Any book that deals with infertility, miscarriage and failed adoptions is not going to be an easy read. Yet Jennifer Saake has done readers a great service in writing this book as it deals with the heartbreak felt by those who look for a longed for child and are left empty handed.
The author speaks from painful experience, having lost ten children through miscarriage or failed adoptions. While she now enjoys the blessing of two children Joshua and Ruth, her many years of struggle with childlessness led to the writing of this book - which is part bible study and application, part life story and journals, part resource and very certainly part encouragement and people struggle through the stages of grief.
This book records the anger, grief, longing, isolation, questions, struggles, tears, sorrows and answered prayers along the journey of childbearing. It shows our humanity and discouragements but it very tenderly shows us that others do share our pains and burdens, both practically and in prayer and we have an all-seeing, all knowing God who knows His plans and purposes for us.
The book title `Hannah's Hope' refers to the Hannah found in the first two chapters of the First Book of Samuel. Throughout the book, parallels are offered between the infertility or sterility experienced by prospective parents today and her situation then. While I buckle slightly at the elaboration of the details offered to us in the Bible as being an `imagining' and `fictionalised look', I don't doubt that the intent is good. I can certainly see that the application set against a variety of true-life stories will be helpful to many who are at different stages of planning their family.
Clearly some will read this with joy and some with tears, but this is a much needed and useful book.
