A brilliant book which would have been the ONLY hamster book I'd bought had it been the first! (and not aimed at just children)
I'm delighted with my purchase.
Great market place seller, sent quickly and book was as described if not better, it actually looks like new!
It is a proper reference guide, and is packed full of information. It is very detailed, and has very specific information about health care, breeding, care, nutrition, and is one of the only books with detailed information for anyone wishing to show their hamsters.
The book does not have as many pictures as other hamster guides, but to be honest there is so much written information in here that it doesn't need them. It is a guide which will stay happily on your bookshelf, and you will refer back to it again and again as the need arises. You can really tell that the authors know exactly what they are talking about, and it is a huge positive that the authors have got a qualified vet to write the section on health care, so that the you have detailed, professional advice.
If you have dwarf hamsters, the book covers all the different breeds, although it does tend to focus slightly more on Syrian hamsters. So it might be worth you looking at Dwarf Hamsters (Pet Owner's Manuals) which compliments the Hamsterlopaedia by concentraing solely on dwarf hamsters, and I would recommend that both are extremely useful.
There aren't a great deal of photos in the book but if you're looking for information and facts then this book is definitely for you. Like a lot of hamster books, it tends to focus more on the Syrian Hamster but there's still a great deal of information for those interested in keeping dwarf hamsters too.
Very highly recommended.
