Painting your car can be a long and laborious task at the best of times. Primer, undercoats and topcoats are needed and therefore you will have to purchase three different tins of paint to get the job done, until now.
Hammerite Metal Paint can be applied directly onto rusty metal thanks to a formula that has been developed to be a primer, undercoat and topcoat in one. It gives a hammered effect finish which is smooth to touch and sheds water well whilst forming a barrier that not only seals out moisture but gives long lasting protection, both inside and out. Easy to use, apply it on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Comes in hammered red in a 250ml tin.
The Hammerite range is designed to protect metalwork from humidity, rain and rust.

This probably wouldn't be an issue if you were using it outside on fences and such things.
I think they might be outlawing this kind of paint soon for environmental reasons.
I used it to paint my internal radiators, so it was a confined space with no breeze to clear the fumes.
They look fantastic though, with just one thick coat and a couple of touch ups in patchy parts, so don't listen to anyone who tells you it isn't going to work for off label use!
I prefer the hammered effect to the smooth as I like the texture and also it helps to cover up any less than perfect brushwork.
I also painted kitchen cupboard doors by lifting them off the carcasses and lying them flat. They now look like those genuine metal filing cabinets.
.Easy to cover existing irregularities caused by several layers of previous paint.
I dont have to spend hours trying to smooth out the paint and not leave brush strokes.
It covers in one go and although a little expensive for the quantity, the quality and ease of use will make me buy it again for similar work.
Certainly the best metal paint Ive used to cover this type of furniture which has lots of small areas, nooks and crannies....
By the way the green is exactly the same as the original dark green , many of the products I have tried before have been green but have been grass coloured or bottle green and not the original dark green my furniture was sold as
The tin says you can paint it over rust, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I think it’s worth spending time preparing the surface first, try to get as much surface rust off as you can using a grinder, wire brush or wire wheel on a drill. Treat the surface first with Kurust before applying 1-2 coats of Hammerite Paint.
The Hammerite paint is quite thin which makes it very easy to apply, it’s easy to get in to the nooks and crannies. The paint goes on very easily and it dries quickly, I was very happy with the finish. The hammered effect helps hide any imperfections which would be more noticeable if using Hammerite Smooth.
I use this on most surfaces, not just metal. I bought this can to tidy up a worktop in my garage as it was looking pretty tatty. One coat was nearly enough, but I added a second to give a good even finish. Looks great. You seem to get a better finish if you leave a whole day between coats in my experience, but you can re-coat after a few hours if you are in a rush.
covers' rust very good.
got this for an old kitchen radiator & everyone has fallen for it & thinks it looks good!.
the colour goes great with Victorian green tiles!!!.
can recommend 100%.as with hammerite you always can as its good quality!.
