2-in-1: Bormio Hiking Backpack and Camera Backpack

Practical, comfortable and feather-light.

Hiking and taking photos - two passions that have one in common: You need a lot of equipment. But the two passions can be combined with each other, because where are there more beautiful motifs than on lonely mountain peaks or on deep blue mountain lakes?

So that both camera and hiking equipment can be comfortably transported, well protected and space-saving, there is the Bormio hiking and camera backpack. It not only looks chic, but is well thought out and offers the right space for any accessory.

Optimal wearing comfort.

Super light for comfortable carrying.

With a weight of just 700 g, the backpack is a real fly weight. Best conditions for longer hikes without back or neck pain.

Soft padded back

The soft back padding and the padded, length-adjustable shoulder straps also ensure the best wearing comfort.

Quick access from outside to camera

When the perfect motif appears, it has to go fast. Within a few seconds, the camera must be ready to shoot, otherwise it will not be anything with the coveted snapshot. The practical zip pocket on the side ensures just that, lightning-fast access to the camera. In the camera compartment there are removable Velcro pads that allow you to individually divide the compartment. Two small Velcro compartments directly in quick access provide space for additional batteries, batteries and memory cards.

Padded compartment for laptop or tablet

Pull the pictures on your tablet or laptop directly after taking photos, look at it, edit and best upload them to your own homepage or Facebook profile? Thanks to the integrated tablet compartment, you no longer have to take a separate bag with you in the future, because the laptop up to 13 inches fits comfortably in the backpack.

Space for the tripod.

Even the tripod finds its place on the backpack. The adjustable strap keeps it securely in place. With the Hama Bormio you are well prepared for every situation in everyday photographers.

Removable camera case - can also be used as a normal hiking backpack.

Very practical: The padded camera case is completely removable. So you can quickly have a conventional trekking backpack if necessary. You can leave the camera equipment at home when you don't need it - all neatly packed in the drawstring bag. Soft fleece interior protects camera, lens and other accessories from scratches and bumps.

I ordered a proper branded camera bag for my digiSLR, and just could not fit in all my accessories, amounting to a zoom lens and bits and pieces as well as fitted lens on the camera. This excellent value bag is just what I wanted, being as roomy, flexible and comfortable to carry as imaginable. It is as light as a feather ....empty... and yet seems strong. Excellent! Although I could fit lunch, drink etc. as well as all my kit in, I would not want to spoil the interior looks!!! So, it will remain half empty! Delighted! Thoughtfully ncluded, as well as the hook and loop movable place holders that allow any size space to be created, it even had a useful piece of similar, in elastic, just to keep the zoom lens extra secure. (Ordered on Sunday afternoon and arrived Tuesday afternoon!) Come to think of it, I'll use my Canon Accessories bag for the lunch!!

In this price bracket, I think this is unbeatable value for the money. I got this as my DSLR (Canon 600D) Camera accessories grew in numbder. I did not like the idea of having different pieces in different places. With this bag, I am able to keep my camera gear in one place, but can still get out what to carry in a smaller Lowepro bag for an assignment if I do not need top carry the whole shebang.

The nicest thing is the fact that you can reconfigure the storage to your needs. I have been able to create custom housing for my Flashguns that require longer and narrow spaces. Since the bag is sufficiently deep, all my three lenses so far are sitting unright (vertically) including the Canon 55 - 250mm zoom lens. This way, I still have plenty of room in the bag. I have created smaller compartments for my DSLR battery charger, Rechargeable battery Charger, Battery packs, Power cords etc. My DSLR is in the middle, strapped with a 50mm Canon 1.8 lens. I have thrown in a couple of filters and wideangle adapters and other little accessories.

The built quality is good. It is does not look nor claim to be rain - proof but at the price I am not complaining. I think light rain cannot cause any issues. I searched high and low all over the Internet and it all came to this one and I am happy I got it.

I think that this is a very good camera bag, ideal for my two cameras. I can get both my DSLR and Bridge Camera in with ease, both with lenses attached with sufficient room for another pair of lenses and other accessories in the main compartment.Plenty of adjustable inserts to protect all your gear. Sufficient room in the front compartment for all your memory cards or refreshments if you are away for longer periods.Sturdy adjustable straps and carrying handle. The picture does not do it justice for the quality of construction. The only reason that I have not gave it five stars is the lack of a waterproof cover although sturdy enough to withstand a light shower without compromising your equipment.

The mixed reviews here made me delay purchasing this, but having read them carefully and weeded out the irrelevant (and also seeing it advertised at £50 on the brand site) I thought it was worth a try at £16.

Many will wonder about the inner section of the bag, since internal photos are lacking, but a previous reviewer has described it well and I'll provide my own experience too.

The large, main section zips completely from top to bottom, so when laid flat, you can flip the top over like a case to pack your gear. I see no problems with the quality of the zips.

That main area comes with configurable padded velcroed partitioning (and it comes already set up). My initial concern was that when my camera (and attached lens) was in the pre-configured section at the top of the bag and the bag was closed and vertical (on my back), the camera would slip over the partioning and stuff would get jumbled up in the bag. I thought the sheer weight of my DSLR and 18-55mm lens would be too much for it to handle but am pleased to say this fear was unfounded and everything stayed neatly in place.
And as others have stated, there is room for at least a DSLR and several lenses.

The middle pocket that you can see will comfortably house a book of approx A4 size and a couple of inches thick. If you know how to pack a rucksack, you will get a set of light waterproofs in there. It's true that, generally, unless you sacrifice something or have little equipment, you won't get picnics and flasks etc in there. But to be fair to the manufacturer, it's designed for camera equipment rather than picnics and personally, I'd keep food, clothing and my camera gear separate anyway.

The third and lowest pocket houses smaller section pockets for filters and cleaning equipment and things of that ilk.

There's a web pocket to the side of the bag as well and the strap and handle design means the attachment of tripod harnesses or extra bags is feasible (but I haven't tested that theory for weight yet).

With all my gear and a fairly weighty book in the bag, I was delighted by the attention paid to the shoulder straps. For a £50 (rrp) this is really a key area and it passes with flying colours. The design has kept the wearer in mind and it's fabulous if you're going to be out for some hours.

The padding throughout is light (weight wise) but absolutely substantial enough to protect your gear.

    Things to consider:
    1. There's no quick release for your camera. You really have to remove the pack completely to get at it. However, I found that I generally wore the camera around my neck (that's the idea after all) and for periods when I did not, removing the pack and retrieving the camera could be done in seconds. At full price, it may be a deciding factor for some people. At £15 (or nearer £19 as it is at time of review) it shouldn't even be considered.
    2. I didn't expect any waterproof qualities (since none were declared) but on day 1 got caught in a light shower. The bag had no problem with that at all but bear in mind that if your bag isn't supposed to be waterproof, it's a good idea to slip a carrier bag or cover into one of the pockets just in case you need it.

I bought this because I only had a smaller shoulder bag. I've kept the shoulder bag for when I'm just popping out locally and I'm keeping the Hama for longer trips or when I need more gear. In the house, it's now where my gear "lives" and is worth the price even for that.

At £50 I'd have shopped around more, for something waterproof and maybe more individual zipped pockets for the bits and pieces. At £15 I feel this is among the best purchases I've made and would recommend it even up to £25.

    Treat yourself :0)

On the plus side delivery on this bag was excellant, good size compartments fitted my Dslr and lenses. But zip is of poor quality and is catching so not sure how long it will last. Price of bag was good, I looked at other more expensive ones and wished I'd paid the extra money now. But as I'm new to digital photography I'm on a bit of a learning curve and apart from the issue with the zip which I hope will last for a bit this bag is ok for the money.

The track pack is fairly flimsy. I do not feel confident using it anywhere other than a non-rugged environment. The zip fastener is weak and gaps appear in the zip when you try to close it. Hence it is certainly not secure. There are numerous partition pieces in which to produce different spaces for the equipment which is handy. Other than that it is not the even average.
