Linking components with scart and vga connections is a real problem; it almost seems to be luck whether or not it works for your particular products. All I can say is that this linked my Linn Unidisk player to my Epson projector perfectly, with no problems at all, enabling me to play dvds. BUT it DOESN'T provide sound (this type of connection isn't designed to), which doesn't bother me as the Unidisk is part of my sound system and plays the dvds through my speakers anyway - if you're looking for sound and vision it won't work by itself.
This cable was assured to me that it would make my tv a large monitor so I could watch my movies on a bigger screen. This does not work, so now I have a cable that I cannot use. I am going to return this product.
I have returned the cable. I was hoping to connect my Sky box (scart) to LG computer screen (vga). Does not work. It does not work either with my Philips dvd player. I was also trying another computer screen: LCD Mitsubishi. No signal. It may be wrong frequency of the signal but it I am not a specialist so how should I know? There is no list of devices working with the cable on the Hama website.

Everyone who is complaining that this item won't work on your computer monitor, it clearly says in the description that it will not do this. It is designed for tv's only and the technology in tv's and monitors does have some slight differences which mean they work differently. This cable is designed more to work with something like a projector. Read the information properly before you purchase the item.
Thought I would be able to connect my dvd player to my projector to show dvd's Doh! should have read more as it wont. I've found out subsequently that many more like me have made the same error!
