In view of the cost of returning it (not worth it), I have purchased another one from another source.
This is unusual for my online purchases from Amazon but I will think twice about buying any similiar items online (or it's other providers) in future.
It has a long, straight lead (please note, not coiled as another reviewer suggests) and the build quality is very good. It gets daily use, has survived numerous crash landings onto my dashboard and still looks as good as the day I received it. I also use it for charging my Jabra bluetooth headset.
An excellent buy for around the third of the price of a replacement charger from TomTom.
Lead is uncoiled but not quite as long as 1.5m - only just reaches from middle armrest to dash. Plastic around USB end is starting to split, and 12v socket doesn't fit very well.... pops out when going over bumps (Wedged in with a lolly stick).
Does the job though and works ok. A bit of glueing required, and it should last a bit longer - Ok for the money I suppose. You get what you pay for (Noticed it's dropped from £4.99 so better value for money)

These chargers were sold as HAMA chargers but were in fact an inferior product. However on return my refund was prompt.Published on 18 April 2011 by Steve

It does what you expect and the build quality is decent for this money. I haven't used it extensively yet so I can't comment on durability or reliability. Read morePublished on 30 May 2009 by C. Dixon
