My son has just bought this triplepack on Amazon but has a new 360, when he puts the discs in it say she unable to play them because he needs an external hard drive!! Is there any way around this so he is able to play them? Thanks
yes - either you will have to buy the hardrive, or you should/might be able to use a memory stick/usb? Once you have prepared the stick for storage (if necessary) make sure you are connected to xbox live, and the relevant update should download and install after inserting each disc.
SOme sort of memory unit/stick/hardrive is required inorder to hold backwards compatibility data for the 360. Even so, Halo 1 is now out on 360 anyway (Halo CEA) which does make buying halo 1 on its own a touch futile.
Perhaps your son was misled - this triple pack doesnt actually give you Halo 3, only the first two, and the expansion pack for Halo 2. Halo 2 can no longer be played online, which is also frustrating. I would simply suggest sending the pack back to amazon, buying a new copy of Halo CEA, a new copy of Halo 2, and finally a used Halo 3. Halo ODST isnt that entertaining, and has no multiplayer, so again probly a used copy would be best in this case. Halo reach is ok, but its multiplayer is now overshadowed by HALO CEA anyway - so again a used copy would do. While Halo 2 has no online multiplayer anymore, I found it one of THE most repeatable campaigns of the series, and therefore recommend a new copy of it (also the enclosed booklet smells really nice)
