Halo 4

Halo 4

Halo 4 is the next blockbuster installment in the iconic franchise that’s shaped entertainment history and defined a decade of gaming. Set almost five years after the events of Halo 3, Halo 4 takes the series in a bold new direction and sets the stage for an epic new sci-fi saga, in which the Master Chief returns to confront his destiny and face an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe..

In addition to a rich story and campaign, Halo 4 introduces a groundbreaking new multiplayer offering, called "Halo Infinity", that builds off the franchise's rich multiplayer history and promises to continue to innovate and redefine the way people think about storytelling and multiplayer experiences.

  • The Reclaimer Saga Begins: Experience the dawn of an epic new Halo adventure, solo or split screen with up to three friends.
  • Go Beyond the Story: Halo 4's Infinity Multiplayer features a vastly expanded suite of multiplayer modes, weapons, vehicles, armour abilities, a new loadout and Spartan IV player progression system.
  • Spartan Ops: Extend your campaign experience in a massive-scale adventure that builds upon the Halo 4 campaign. Receive a weekly series of cinematic episodes on Xbox LIVE followed by new gameplay missions, played solo or cooperatively with up to three friends.
  • War Games: Battle the competition in fresh, immersive new game modes and strategies.
  • Track your groups, stats and scores on HaloWaypoint.com.
  • Edge-of-your-seat Entertainment: Immerse yourself in Halo 4's graphics, sound and epic gameplay, including a mysterious and deadly new class of enemies.

  • War Games Map Packs: This limited edition includes access to nine maps--three future competitive multiplayer map packs, each including three locations, available for download post-launch on Xbox LIVE.
  • Specializations: Receive early access to six specializations, available at launch on Xbox LIVE, and use them, one at a time, to achieve higher ranks in your Spartan career. In addition to gaining access to new ranks, Specializations unlock new customisation options.
  • The Special Edition of Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, a 90-minute extended version of the live-action digital series which will take fans back to the terrifying beginning of the Human/Covenant war, when the Master Chief inspired a young cadet who would eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC's greatest vessel ever: the USNC Infinity.
  • Bonus digital content through Xbox LIVE, including unique in-game Spartan IV armour skin, unique in-game weapon skin for the Assault Rifle, an exclusive in-game emblem, Xbox LIVE Avatar prop and Xbox LIVE Avatar Spartan IV armour set.

This halo is great fun multiplayer wise, campaign mode was a little bit of a let down. The enemy AI programming wise is not as smart as the bungie halo games which was a little disappointing and does not really entice you to keep playing the campaign. The story is great as ever and the cutscenes were done beautifully. The multiplayer is great as good as the old halo 3 version imo was the best multiplayer experience. However the lack of lone wolves gametype was a little bit of a let down. Overall the plusses outway the minuses by far and is a great game.

Pre-ordered this as soon as i could.

Received on Day 1 and to be honest was very underwhelmed, especially considering the price i paid.

The only collectible things within were a special tin for the game and a small (A2) poster and a few codes for avatar items. very underwhelming

saying that the main reason i paid the extra (almost £20) was for the full length feature of Forward unto Dawn (which wasn't even on the disk it was a code that you had to put into the Xbox to unlock) and you still have to put the disk in to watch it!)

now to the game itself!

Very Disappointing!

they have taken out fire-fight (which was one of my favourite game modes) and replaced it with a mode called Spartan ops (which comes in seasons and chapters) which is ok i guess but there's not customisation on the individual game so you cant for instance have the gruntpocolypse you could in fire-fight.

The main single player campaign is not very long at all and its very generic.

BUT!!! the graphics look amazing and the multiplayer system is a lot better than it used to be!

for 343's first Halo game its a valiant attempt and still beats Halo 3 ODST without a shadow of a doubt!

Oh and grifball is now an official game-type ^_^

so to sum up

if you have played all the main halo games (combat Evolved, 2,3 & reach) you would be doing yourself a favour by picking this up but i wouldn't recommend the collectors edition unless you want a nice tin (it is a very nice tin) as the only real bonus is the Forward Unto Dawn "Film" which is coming out soon on DVD anyway!

I was warned about Amazon's release day delivery by friends. Why didn't I listen? Pre-ordered the limited edition 30th May (the first day it was available to pre-order) and selected the delivery option for "want this game the day it is released". What it should have said is click here for first class Royal Mail which could take 1-3 days! You need to look at the way you phrase you delivery options. I would have selected any option as long as it got to me today so why did you suggest a service that wasn't likely to get to me on release day. I'll not bother again!

Game's great by the way had a quick play on a friends so that I didn't ruin the campaign story for myself!

This isn't a review of the game, just the limited edition content if you're interested.

First thing to be said is, this is an extraordinarily well made product. The box is made of a solid and nicely textured vinyl plastic, and has a magnetic lock on it which gives it a very 'deluxe' feeling. The game inside comes in a steel box, which is also unlike any I've seen before - it is finely textured and ridged along the contours of the art design. It's really, really cool.

Also inside is a metal-punched faux-military field guide, which has a fantastic thick rubber back plate, making it feel like something designed to last. When I held it I thought, wow - these guys were serious about their design!

There are 2 further packets to open, which again are made from extremely cool materials which feel carefully selected. There's also a large fold-out spartan design schematic, which, whilst being standard video game fetish stuff, is made awesome by the choice of a very heavy tactile cloth, which adds weight and feeling to the whole thing.

I'm not the world's biggest Halo fan, but this is definitely about the best Limited Edition fan service you could wish for. It's been designed by someone who cared about what went into it, and as far as the price goes, the charming materials alone make it worthwhile, future DLC and so forth also being part of the package.

After finally getting round to buying Halo 4, I decided to go for the limited edition, since it's still hanging around. However, one of my main reasons for going for it was that it "includes" the special edition of Forward Unto Dawn, which I watched online a while ago and enjoyed. However, what is really "included" is a code to unlock Forward Unto Dawn for streaming online, which is a huge disappointment. Although the quality when watching via Halo Waypoint or in a web browser cannot be faulted, it is a far cry from what I had expected which was a hard-copy of the live action film on DVD; I wouldn't mind an HD streaming feed in addition, but I had hoped to have a copy I could hold, or even better one that I could load onto an iPad or my phone to watch on the move. So for anyone else thinking that by buying this version of Halo 4 that you'll be getting a Forward Unto Dawn disk bundled with it, then please don't make the mistake I did; it's just an unlock code to stream it, so keep that in mind in case you'd rather just buy the regular edition Halo 4 and a separated Forward Unto Dawn DVD or Blu-Ray.

Now, that aside; the limited edition is very nicely presented, themed around a UNSC mission briefing packet with a mini dossier, orders envelope, spartan armour blue print and a two-disc game tin. It's all very novel but not hugely exciting.
