This book is not just to create a great party time for kids; it encompasses ideas for teenagers and adults too!

My nephews loved the cover and inside illustrations. My family has long been lovers of 'All Hallows Eve' and it has always been a time for mischief and fun. When I was young it was a time to scare the adults and now I'm one of them I have to admit to loving the thrill of scaring the kids in the family and getting my own back on them.

These days it has become very much a family occasion and rather than door knocking, a party is arranged. Dressing up is a must and we organise a spooky treasure hunt where plenty of surprises lay in wait for the unsuspecting.

The author, Dede, has provided fabulous ideas, videos and resources for creating a great party without spending a fortune. I can't wait for Halloween this year and may even arrange for the kids to go on a sleepover so I can try out the adult haunted house theme.

As a Halloween Babe, Dede has researched the folk lore well and I learned something also! Always wondered where the pumpkin lantern came in! Very well put together by someone who obviously has the 'Spooky Gene' and really enjoys this holiday. Highly recommended.

Buy this book now as you will need some time to start preparations to ensure you have a fun, spooky and scary Halloween this year!

Halloween Fun - Scary - Spooky Fun For The Entire Family
Illustrated colorful children's book that starts out with how Halloween came about.
Story of how the jack o lantern came to be along with pumpkin carving.
List of safety, what to wear and what foods to make for your own neighborhood party.
Themed parties have their own chapters so you can cater yours to them.
Also top 10 games to play. Tons of resources to go for help or for tours, music, etc

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Halloween Guide 9 Aug. 2012

As its name suggests this book is great fun!

It grips you from the first with the author's story and keeps the reader guessing as to what to expect. It then cleverly weaves in Halloween legends, games and activities to make this book absorbing and absolutely entertaining. It's not just for the kids either it's great for the entire family. The book is very well thought through and even has a section on safety.

I also love the author's tongue-in-cheek humor. You will also fine "spine chilling" graphics that enhance the mood. Web links are provided to youtube clips and other resources. I reckon this makes the book a complete guide to Halloween.

All in all a wonderful read - Highly recommended.
5.0 out of 5 stars I must admit Halloween has become something I dislike. I could write a book on the negative ... 5 Dec. 2014

I must admit Halloween has become something I dislike. I could write a book on the negative side of Halloween. But the author quickly reminded me of my youth and how much fun Halloween could be. One of my childhood experiences was anything but fun and I am 77 years old. Halloween can be a nightmare due to the mischief caused by some teenagers and adults. The author gives many suggestions which could make it a happy experience. Suggestions and resources are plentiful. Some get very involved both time-wise and monetarily, but that would be an individual decision. I still have my reservations about Halloween and am unlikely to participate in it again, The book is well written and has many excellent ideas. As much money as is spent on Halloween, some of it should be to purchase this book... ..
5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining AND a useful resource - highly recommended! 11 Aug. 2012

I really liked the way this book was laid out: it was a fun read starting with the information about the author being born a Halloween baby (how cool is that: guaranteed fun on every birthday!) and then following up with stories woven in amongst the suggested Halloween activities and crafts. I liked the acknowledgement, too, that things have changed and kids going out on Halloween are maybe not quite as safe as they once were... but there's still plenty of ways to have family fun.

I enjoyed the inclusion of bright pictures. This would make it fun for kids to read (actually, I can picture them referring to this for some of those classroom assignments to find out information!)

A big plus with this book is the resource section at the end of the book, so you can find free pumpkin carving patterns/templates and videos, free printable online certificates, recipes, trivia questions and more. That's smart, because e-books are changing - buyers look for those little 'extras', and providing extra training and resources means that everything is together in one book, but extending BEYOND the book.

Other things I liked:

## The safety considerations: good suggestion about Kids being "Keepers of the Flame" as well as care of pets. Ditto for the intelligent suggestions about 'trick or treat'.

## The suggestions for house parties and block parties, and how to balance time, talent and resources - plus the Top 10 Party Theme events!

## Time Management Tips! This might sound dry in a Halloween book, but wait... this is actually no small thing. A bit of planning and careful use of time means everyone has more fun.

## Love the Halloween fun games, too. Think I'll try that tombstone dance! Good idea to include adult games.

Great book, terrific value. Add it to your Halloween collection. (Actually, it may be the only one you need!)
5.0 out of 5 stars Way More Than I Exected 26 Aug. 2013
By Julia Busch - Published on Amazon.com

The author, born on All Hallows Eve, tells of her childhood and how Halloween used to be, safely going door to door with goody bags. She weaves in charming anecdotes of her dad's and uncle's versions of how Halloween came to be, and with humor and wit relates the real lowdown, including the legend of the Jack O'Lantern.

A born party planner, she gives endless ideas for kid's and adult parties, emphasizing safety and creativity into parties that range from the simple to the complex, including advice on how to delegate tasks among friends and relatives for some big Halloween blowouts.

An entire chapter is devoted to online links, from a YouTube Monster Mash video, to sites for makeup and supplies, to templates for carving pumpkins.

Planning a Halloween party? This is a must read! And if you weren't thinking in that direction, you will be after reading this book. Highly recommended.
