Already bought it when she won X factor but somehow lost during house move.Still my favourite winner of X factor ever .Luv especially at Christmas so decided to order it again .Alexandra has now gone on to prove herself in The Bodyguard musical and she has a stunning voice .Well done Ms Burke you still have the X factor .Wish you luck ,and it's about time Simon Cowell mentioned you more .

There can be no doubt that the correct person won the annual sob....sorry song fest that is the X Factor. She is a very talented girl , though it is also sadly the case that the Cowell treadmill will turn her into another Mariah/ Whitney/ Leona clone which we could well do without.
However the news that the X Factor Christmas number 1 was to be a cover of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah was about as welcome as Russell Brand at Andrew Sachs Xmas party .The song originally written and recorded by Leonard Cohen for his 1984 album Various Positions ( a torturous process by all accounts) has been covered by numerous artists( there are around 170 versions) including versions by Rufus Wainright ,Allison Crowe and most famously Jeff Buckley from hisGrace (New Version) album. This is the one that most people seem to have identified with and there is no doubt that Buckley did a great shivery version . The one that nails it for me is John Cales version which he recorded ( with new lyrics as Cohen wrote 15 verses for the song) for the 1991 Cohen tribute album I'm Your Fan: the Songs of Leonard Cohen and was featured in the soundtrack For Shrek [2001] and actually surpasses Cohen's own version. Cale with just piano accompaniment effortlessly infuses the song with a wracked tenderness and almost palpable yearning without resorting to histrionics and overkill.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written, however it's completely butchered here. Over the top vocals ruin it. It's meant to be sung simply. Awful cover.

No disrespect to Alexandra Burke, she has a powerful voice and performed with exception during the x factor, however this song is not one she should ever attempt to sing. It doesn't suit her voice or style, it's intended to be subtle and plaintive not a screamer. She clearly has no emotional connection with the lyrics leaving the track devoid of any feeling.

I wish people would stop comparing singers and allowing their bias of the Simon Cowells of this world affect their reviews! What he may or may not be has nothing to do with the singing ability of this performer and the same goes for other versions of the song! Just listen to the magical voice of this lady and decide if you like her for her voice and entertainment value or not. Not everyones cup of tea for sure, but Alexandra does it for me...BIG TIME!
And lets not forget, she is British afterall. Isn't that something to be proud of? Personally,I wish her all the best!

Alexandra Burke has great talent - and what she does to this song is beautiful. Incredible vocal range and power, 'emotionality', the highs and lows make hairs stand on end - just listen to it with your eyes shut and concentrate!
