★✩★✩★ 5 – They Go Out with a BANG – Stars ★✩★✩★
~this review may contain minor spoilers~

~It seems all of our lives are absolutely perfect.
I never would have let the thought cross my mind had I known that thinking it was only inviting the worst possible demons in our lives. Demons that would destroy us and possibly alter our lives in a way that we'd never fully recover from.~

The final installment of the Hale Series sees these six friends trying to start their happily ever afters. After the hell they have all gone through – both collectively and individually, between shootings and kidnappings – they most definitely deserve it. But you know what they say, it's always darkest before the dawn, and as they will soon learn, there are still shadows lurking around the corner ready to take over. In what might be their greatest challenge yet, and told from the POV's of all six friends – relationships will be tested, friendships will be pushed to their limits, and their lives may never be the same again.

~My world f****** stops. The question I never thought I'd want to hear. The question I was certain I would never hear....
The question, at this point in time, I don't have an answer to.~

I was a latecomer to this series, I had only read book three up until this book – so when I saw that this was gonna be told from all six of the main characters I jumped on it. I fell in love with each of these people for very different reasons in 'Hot as Hale' and was completely stoked to finally get in the heads of ALL of the characters – something I missed out on by not reading the first two books.... YET. I was NOT disappointed and fell even harder, there really is no way to truly understand a character more than when you get their POV.

Wow The final book in this amazing series from Marie James is 5*++++

To Hale and Back is jam packed with everything I enjoyed about this series we get to read all points of views which works really well. The passion and love between the three couples will set your kindle on fire !!!.

Of course like life nothing is ever smooth sailing and the twists, betrayal and changes they all go through will shock you !.

Ian/Lorali, Garrett/Alexa and Kaleb & Josie have a bond each and connected together that seems so strong and unbreakable but things change and situations put friendships & relationships to the test. Will they break or are the bonds strong enough to survive anything thrown at them all.

Recommended series for those looking for a steamy hot, drama filled gripping series.

Garrett and Alexa took me totally by surprise in the dirtiest way possible, which I LOVED, but they also cheesed me off with their stubbornness. Ian was another fun and filthy surprise and I loved getting to know Lorali a bit better. Kaleb and Josie I already knew pretty well, but this just reminded me why I loved them so much together. Another thing that made this one different from the previous books was the conflict. Up until now, the trouble that has landed on their doorsteps has been pretty brutal and violent, and while this one wasn't quite like that, it tested them in ways they never had been before and it was almost worse. And it came out of nowhere – I was completely blindsided. With as many books as I read on the regular, the fact that I can still be surprised is refreshing and welcomed. We go from sex, sex, and more smokin hot sex, sweetness and happily in loves, with lots of laughs along the way, to HOLY CRAP!! What now?! These people are all so amazing together, they are their own little family and clearly love each other, are devoted to each other and all of the sudden I'm worried about their futures as a group. Overnight their dynamic is changed, and though some are affected more than others – it hits them all is one way or another. It certainly had me flipping through the pages dying to see what would happen next and hoping they could find their way back. I loved every freakin minute of it even as I was pulling my hair out and screaming at some to pull their heads outta their butts while my heart bled for others. The book was split down the middle with the feelings it draws outta you. The first half was a lot of sex, and I mean ALOT, it was almost too much but considering it was told by all six characters, you have the sex lives of three distinctly different couples so it was manageable. If all that sex was going on with just one couple I probably would have started skimming. The second half of the book was nothing but tension. However, Marie James did do a fantastic job of soothing my soul in the end and left me with a big smile on my face. If you haven't picked up any of the books in this series yet, do so now. Seriously, these people will leave their marks for many different reasons and their journey from start to finish will keep you on the edge of your seat, blushing and swooning like a loon, and laughing your butt off. I will definitely be keeping my eyes open for more from this author in the future and cannot wait to see what she brings us next.

~So much has happened over the last ten months...
So much tragedy has also tried to tear up apart...
enough to tear any small group apart and somehow we managed to battle through and come out mostly unscathed.~

Happy Reading xo Jenn @ Bookworm Betties

HASH(0x9120f060) out of 5 stars I am so sad to see this series end… 7 Nov. 2015

I was looking forward to this book as much as I was dreading it. I’ve loved this series from the start and honestly didn’t want to see it end. Previous books each centered on one couple in a group of brothers and friends that came together in a wonderful mix of friendship, love, drama and hot romance….

And yes, I said HOT! Scorching, panty-melting, no holds barred, exuberant heat! The sex and emotions were high throughout as each couple brought their own unique strengths and quirks to the mix. There were some serious bumps in the roads along the way and this outing is no exception. This time out all the couples are the story as they each deal, in their own way, with weddings, babies and unexpected adversity. There are six voices in all and that combination makes for a story full of emotion –that had me from the first page.

The couples have had to deal with a lot but never more so than in these pages. When one member is targeted, the trust that they’ve built will be pushed to the breaking point. Watching the good and bad choices being made, it just reinforces how real and human these men and women really are. Soapy, sweet and uber sexy, this series was like the best chocolate – each piece sweeter than the last! Their laughter and tears, and their uninhibited love, have reserved a permanent corner on my re-read shelf.

HASH(0x91158624) out of 5 stars A perfect ending and crazy adventure for this group of friends 23 Jan. 2016

Book four is the best in my opinion. We know how all three couples got together (Alexa and Garrett still are my favorite), we have romance, we have intrigue, we have conflict and drama and I love it! If you enjoyed the steamy scenes from the first three books you will remain happy because MJ definitely delivers those in book four. If you are like me and had some questions left after the kidnapping scene, shooting, etc. you will be ecstatic with the direction that this book takes.

There are some scenes I thought were a bit predictable, but not in an off-putting way, rather than okay there is that loose end that I was wondering about. Ian and Lorali are part of the book, but not so much. I do have to say I thought the wording of the prenup was hysterically brilliant. Alexa and Garrett put me through the wringer of emotions..talk about a roller coaster of a first year in their relationship. Josie grew on me some, and while I like her, she is still my least favorite of the three women. The placement of a certain name that Josie knew and Kaleb was missing..brilliant. That scene is one of the reasons I love thrillers because the author knows all the pieces and then hands them to us and the characters in such a great method!

I enjoyed all of the stories and am glad I read them in order. I think book four is the best and ties this group dynamic up with a crazy adventure. I know this is the end of this series, but I would love to see what happens with the friend who Ian hires to handle the charity aspect of his business and Kaleb's supervisor/police friend. Those two characters really stuck out to me and I want there story now too! Regardless, I can't wait to read more from MJ and enjoyed this series greatly!

HASH(0x9120f2e8) out of 5 stars Love, compassion and so much more! 1 Nov. 2015

Binds that are held together by love and respect are really hard to break. Our friends have had to endure a lot and overcoming the newest attack to their bond might be the one that finally break no only their friendships but they might strain the relationships within the group.
Kaleb and Josie have are dealing with issues stemming from her resent stress, adding a jealous ex into the mix to make things worse for them.
Alexa is having commitment issues with her Garrett that are tested when she loses him to the darkness that can consume him.
Lorali and Ian are struggling with her insecurities over his wealth and how she is perceived in the public. Worse of all is when Kaleb has to follow through with his job and possibly hurt not only is Joise but the friendships he has cultivated and held deep in his heart as more than just friends... Family.
Incredibly the complexities of their relationships are not even that complex, they share a bond stronger than family although they are tied to each other as family. Confusing right? But if I begin to explain it we will have way to much time spent on how they are all connected when in fact all yo have to is read the first books in this amazing series. But don't fret, this book explains most of it and will be satisfying as hell to consume. Yes, I used the word consume because that is what will happen after the first time you read it making you want to read it again so that you can be completely satisfied that you didn't miss a beat of each of their relationships. Josie, Kaleb, Alexa, Garrett, Lorali and Ian a group that are stronger together than apart. A brilliant read that will fill you heart and make you crave more of them individually which will lead you to read the first books in the series... Don't say I didn't warn you!!!

My Review:

To Hale and Back started off as mostly sunshine and rainbows, as the three couples settled into their lives together and started planning their futures and continuing their careers. With 1026 total pages read for this review, I expected a sweet and sexy wrap up as we cruised to the completion to this sensual series, but no… Marie James had a dark and bumpy ride planned for one of the couples. Their reactions to the situation became rather uncomfortable and precarious, and I wasn’t sure their journey was one they could return from intact, nor was I certain they should have - considering the behaviors displayed. Written in multiple POV, which I enjoyed, the story tied together well and held my attention, despite the occasional cringing. No spoilers here, but although it was hard getting there, the ending did bring a satisfying conclusion to the series.
