the only thing that this printer isn't supplied with, is the printer USB cable, but its just a standard fitting and readily available online for about £2 depending on what length you need.
Everything else is supplied. It is easy to setup to your computer, with step by step guide on the provided CD rom.
This printer is not designed for industrial use and will not win any races for print time, that said i needed it just for home/moderate use, and it performs fine, its still fast enough and prints good quality colour images.
On top of that its small and light enough to be fairly portable.
The scanner/copier works efficiently.
This is a very good printer for the money, plus its HP so you know its a quality product.
Snap one up because i dont think they can sustain being at this price for long.
I decided to go for a basic bog standard printer that was cheap, and I was a little dissapointed this came with a scanner as I thought it may let me down on print quality. However the cartridge refils were cheap (I cant believe the £20 cheaper price tag than my previous epson ones) so I thought I would give the printer a shot.
It is superb, really quite quick on printing, times have certainly moved on, I thought I may be wanting to fly out of the door in the morning and this may hold me back but it certainly wont.
I would certainly say try it, good for students, home and I am using it for work, but for just a few page documents at a time. The rest can be done in the office.
Excellent value at the £29.99 (with free delivery) that I paid for this item.(Even comes with cartridges, adapter and plug, but NOT the USB connector,( but the one from my old HP printer is compatible fortunately.)
The older model of this printer ,which served me well for ten years was much heavier, and rather slow, but
in view of the service that it gave me, predisposed me to buy the latest update of my old model.
The machine is easy to set up, program in, and use, and is light weight, if you have to move it about the house.
It prints out, and scans fairly speedily, and the quality of construction is excellent for the price.
If you require a machine for normal light home use, and have no need of Wi-Fi facilities, this machine is unbeatable value for money.
I have used it for several weeks now, without any problems, and can, therefore, recommend it very highly.
For the price, great.
So out with the Epsom and in with the HP.
The inks, of course - instead of 3 separate colour Epsoms, with HP it's all in one - chances are the blue (cyan) in the HP unit will get used up more quickly than the yellow or pink - but the chances of finding cheaper compatible replacement cartridges should be greater than with Epsom - a long-standing gripe with Epsom users.
It's a whole lot quieter. OK, my old Epsom was vintage technology, by comparison as it made lots of noises preparing itself and actual printing sounded industrial, compared to the (relative) swish silence of this HP.
Problems setting up - it was dead easy except for finding out where and how to load the inks. Having only ever had, or used the Epsom before my experience with printers and their layout was nil. Once done and it's been smooth, quiet printing since, with the quality that you'd expect these days - am sure there are better out there but for all intents and purposes, looks spot on. Scanning briefly makes more than noise than expected but the quality's good and there's a wide choice of settings, from basic draft to jpeg, to fine photo to TIFF.
So, having been on a really tight budget, this HP got me out of a spot. I don't print much, so haven't got through the supplied inks yet, and not tried photo printing - I didn't buy it for that. I'd prefer a black bodied printer to the rather beige of this but I wasn't buying style and looks.
For the money, there are a few cheapo basic models around, that you can pick up from the likes of Argos etc.Read more ›
