Starting the computer without getting a microsoft account is a little tricky, thought.
Tried Star Trek Online with good (not best) settings, and the computer gets hot. I wouldn't reccomend playing games for more than an hour without a cooling pad under it, preferably one with two fans (the hot part is to the right).
While I got it with an US keyboard, I am using it as an spanish one without any problems (more of a windows thing, but great anyway).
The cord comes with a 3 pin plug, so since I'm in Malta that was great (yeah, that is the reason I bought it from here, Amazon.com won't send to Malta, neither Amazacon.es would do it).
UPDATE: It seems I was sent a refurbished product instead of a new one, the HP warranty had started to run in May 2014 instead of in november (when I received the PC) or even october (when I placed the order). Yesterday (8/7/2015) I got a BSOD with unknown error caused by the PC turning itself off, and then unable to start up if not in safe mode.
It seems a common problem in HP laptops nowadays, but the warranty issue I do not understand.
- I particularly struggled to get the HD display to work to my liking, in two respects 1) to get text and icons at a comfortably readable size and 2) to get decent colour and contrast. As I bought the laptop for photography this second one is quite big issue but one I have never had a problem with before. I think I have cracked it now after quite a lot of messing about in the bowels of the machine.
- I still can't get it to display the desktop picture I want, but that is no big deal.
- Windows 8.1 not a problem as I am used to using it on my desktop.
- I have now bought an HP wireless mouse, which at £10 (from PC World) is well worth having, and easier to use than the touchpad.
- Battery life seems quite good and it is useful to have an indication, not just of what % charge is left, but what this means in hours and minutes, though I have not tested this to see how accurate it is.
- start-up and shut down are both quick, which I like
