Emma Child, the author, is the author of several Amazing Animal Kingdom Series. She has always been fascinated by nature and inspired by a love of animals. Her books for children are educational and fun. She has written this book about horses that contains so much information. The photos are exceptional, if you click on them, the picture will enlarge. The better to see you with, my dear!
Parents/teachers will have a great deal of fun reading this book to their children. The children can tell tales of their experiences with horses. They can also share the information they learned while reading this book. There are 400 different breeds or kinds of horses. They like to live with other horses or in herds. Did you know horses sleep standing up? They only heed 3-4 hours of sleep a day. They have very strong legs and have approximately 205 bones in their bodies. These and many, many more facts are available in this book. You will be amazed at what you learn about horses. Note: a complimentary copy of this book was provided for use and review.
This is a nice gentle introduction for any child who wants to learn about these beautiful animals.

The book is written in a child friendly style. The sentences are short and the reading level is child appropriate. The author encourages child response by asking little questions throughout the text. I love the little questions because when reading this book to a child, the questions gives the child an opportunity to engage, think and more completely comprehend the material.
Small photos accompany each page but I wished the photos had been larger.
This is a fun, quick reading book and kids will love it.
I was provided a reading copy for review.
~The Rebecca Review
This book is suitable for any child old enough to be interested in horses. It is also interesting for adults, who are sure to learn a fact or two.
The text does briefly discuss equine mating, but it omits discussion of the anatomical or mechanical aspects of fertilization and might leave some youngsters with the impression that this is accomplished by sniffing and licking. On the other hand, this would be a good book with which to broach the topic when the time is right.
What child, especially a girl, hasn't dreamed of owning her or his own horse at one time or another?
There are lots of interesting facts in this book, such as the classification "pony" refers to the size of the horse, not a breed or age. Male horses have more teeth than female horses, who knew?
The photographs compliment the text beautifully.
If you have a child in your life, especially one born and raised in the city, this is an excellent book for them to read and broaden their horizons and knowledge base.
I was furnished with a review copy.
