After a year, I decided to replace them with the upgraded Jam Transit Touch. Although epically cool to use, the hype was short lived, they broke after a month of regular use so I once again donned the faithful pair of red Fusions. After going from touch controls back to physical, I realised how much easier basic analog controls were to use.
Another year passed and my Fusion was starting to show signs of fatigue, the plastic above the folding portion of the headphones had started to snap in two which I remedied with super glue and one of the aluminium size sliders had come disconnected but could be fit back in easily with stereo sound intact but the fabric covering the earphones becoming ragged and starting to fall off ever so slightly. Despite these problems and the heavily faded control pad on the right ear, these headphones proved they were going no where.
Finally, today (About 6 months later) after half of the left slider fragmented, making the left earphone hang by a wire until slotted carefully back into pmace, the superglue coving the headband breaking and being bandaged back together with more glue and bound with elastic, a second split fracturing the right side of the headband above the slider, the right ear went silent despite by best efforts to fix it.
I'd really grown attached to these headphones actually, I had my first college pass picture taken with them and even bought a pair for my niece to share our music using the JAM2 function (One Direction is not much fun in double stereo, lemme tell ya!)
Considering that these £20 headphones lasted for almost 3 years and last around a week on a single charge (Which entails being on standby for around 7-9 hours a day and playing sick beats for about 2-3 hours a day) after being salvaged from a clearance sale of obviously vandalised merch, were chucked around, sat on, dropped and even drowned in a rainstorm MULTIPLE TIMES, I'd say that they did pretty well, especially considering that the pair I had before were "Rugged" and yet only lasted for less than 6 months.
So if you were to ask me: "Hey Carrick, are these any good?" then I'd obviously have to say...
+ These headphones have great range
+ great sound not too bassy but still have a bit of oomph
+ compact and foldaway easier
+ nice snazzy packaging
- they leak sound to the point where people think I'm a street thug which I don't have the swag for
-bthey fall off quite easily by sneezing and looking to cross the road
- they got an annoying flashing light on the side which makes me feel like a bug is attacking me in my peripheral vision
- after an hour they hurt my ears which isn't great
Would I buy them again? No
Do they do the job I need them for? Yes
Daughter loves them. Sound quality is really good for the price. Came with bag, charging lead but you will need a usb socket!
Battery lasts for hours. Distance from ipad via bluetooth can get up to 6/7m but breaks up a little after that.
Volume and shuffle controls on one side of headset when using bluetooth.
Unlike some other bluetooth headphones, it uses a micro usb interface for charging. This helps, if you constantly misplace cables, like me. The specs did not mention it, but this does come with a mic.
