John Pinkney has written a really unputdownable book of true ghost stories set in Australia. Set out in categories such as: Haunted Military Airbases, or Haunted Cinemas and Haunted Radio Stations ect. Can you imagine being alone in the early hours of the morning broadcasting to the nation in a haunted building. Terrifying! Then there is the Monte Cristo mansion haunted by the harridan who once ruled over her family, where a stable hand was set on fire because he was too ill to work. You have just got to read this if you are like me and love scary ghost stories.

You can see from other reviews of mine that I have a serious interest in what I call High Strangeness - anomalous events, sightings, artifacts et al, and after reading "Australia's Strangest Mysteries" by the same author (an excellent read) I thought I would invest the price of a cup of coffee in the Kindle edition of Haunted.
I'm far from disappointed with the book itself, once again it is extremely easy to read and is packed with events, but I realise now that I'm just not a 'ghost' person - stones appearing 10 feet up in the air and floating down like feathers (a well documented 'mystery' the world over) are interesting to me, but I can only read about so many ghostly figures, sitting on fences, pointing to the place where their long murdered body will be found, before I close the book and move on to something else.
That said, I'm not knocking the book in any way.
If you are interested in hauntings and ghostly events per se, Haunted provides you with hours of reading about ghostlike events that have happened across Australia since colonisation and, as usual, John writes enthusiastically whilst keeping you entertained throughout...... plus at the Kindle price it's a steal for the amount of reading it will give you.
If ghosts and hauntings interest you in any way, this is a must have read.

Another excellent book by John Pinkney with lots of very interesting ghost stories from "down under". JP is rapidly becoming one of my favourite authors (for this kind of genre) and I would definitely recommend his work to anyone who has any sort of interest in our mysterious world. The only question I would ask is how come his books on kindle are so cheap ? ....not that I am complaining though !!!! I have (to date) purchased 4 of his books and they have all been well researched, well written, informative and a delight to read. .

This is a very good book. Some of the spooks I have heard of before, but others,I have not.I live in a house with 7 ghosts, and ir is great lying in bed reading this book, and you know that here is something in the room with you, that is no longer living.

I've been interested in ghosts and hauntings for well over 50 years and have investigated a large number in my time. Consequently I have read many books about hauntings and supposed spirit contact and have largely been unimpressed. Not this time. In my humble opinion this is the best book on ghosts and hauntings on the market. John Pinkney is a great researcher and an engaging writer.

Just recently bought a Kindle and this was the first book I bought (grabbed my attention) I loved it, I having read a book in 20 years it took me 2 weeks to finish, very good and inspiring, I have also had many experiences with the afterlife, especially a long dead priest.

There's every kind of phenomenon to be found here from haunted hotels, lighthouses to road ghosts and beloved pets returning from the grave.
A superb tour-de-force from John Pinkney once again; he may not be a well known writer on the paranormal but he is one of the best.

A fascinating book for those that either believe in the afterlife or not. Despite many stories being short , the author certainly captured the mood and describes them with such good detail, once you pick up the book you won't put it down.
