I have the same game for earlier versions of Windows. I expected to have at least the same options if not more for this new version but unfortunately it's ridiculously limited. One can only play world domination, not territory domination which makes playing with others much more fun. You must play with at least four players (of which three can be the computer so you don't need more people but you can't i.e. play against Napoleon only), the cards trade either with three of the same or three different ones but regardless of the combination, the value is the same.
In the old version, when the dice were rolling, you'd actually see the two pieces of land and a little animation of soldiers falling and canons disappearing as one was weakening.
This version is a cheap, 'easy' version of the game. I had finished playing in 2 days as I kept winning. It didn't seem to matter what star the generals had, they all were weak and had strange strategies that were easy to beat.
Very disappointing if you've ever played this game on pc before. If you haven't buy it, you won't know what you miss and if you like playing risk you'll enjoy playing it on your pc.

I can just play the original risk it keeps crashing but is still wonderful fun so I was really looking forward to a Hasbro licensed update. what a shame!!! virtually no choices to be made. you have no control over difficulty level or any advanced game options, so it is fun but only for "five minutes" a real shame this and I hope some-one will release a better risk soon as it can be so much fun.

I assumed that this would simply be a more compatible version of the old Risk II computer game, but was sadly mistaken. You can only play the basic game structure, you can't see the game overview at the end, the animations are gone and the way cards are exchanged for troops is most peculiar.

Still a good game though, I'd recommend it to anyone who has played the board game and doesn't have enough people to play it with, but if you're used to the old game, this will be a dissapointment!

I was disappointed when the product arrived. After paying £16, for a disk that looked like it had been burned to disk, labeled then stuck in case cd case, looks pretty naff! This was ordered as gift, it looks cheap and embarrassing and des not represent the image.
I'm hoping the contents work ok as the game is a favourite, but it is sealed and a gift.

I played RISK the board game along time ago. It was great we played alot and with differant friends. This is as close to the board game as Id expect from a pc version. The computer opponents can be set from good to not so good, or aggressive to pretty laid back. I played with my brother and we played for about 3 hours, we ended up "double teaming" the comp opponent, "Then he got lucky and won " but it was good

Based on the timeless Risk board game. They have managed to retain most of the features from the original board game. One thing that is missing is mission objective cards however, the Computer Generals should keep you busy for quite some time.

Not the best computer game in the world but still good fun, and a must for lovers of the original Risk who have no one to play with :-)
