1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this case. Read my experieince 18 Nov. 2012
By RGMarti - Published on Amazon.com
I purchased this case on September 30th and although it protects my iPhone 5 extremely well. It has a HUGE Flaw that I have e-mailed the MFG. twice about and have had no response at all.

The Flaw is with the plastic screen protector on the top part of the case. As near as I can tell, the case interferes with the iPhone's proximity sensor and does not let me hang up calls or perform other functions while in a call. The screen will go black and I have to press the home button to get it back. i.e. I am in a call and want to add a call to conference someone in, I press the + to add a call and the screen goes blank or I press the + multiple times and it is like I am not pressing it at all as it wil not respond. It is EXTREMELY frustrating especially when on a business call. I tried a different case for the last 10 days and did not have this problem at all. I put the Gumdrop case back on and the problem is back.

I strongly recommend you do not get this case as I feel like the MFG does not care about customer service. I have tried to contact them twice through their website support form and although they say they will respond within 48-72 hours, they have never responded EVER. I actually have gotten 2 phone calls as I wrote this review and have had this problem. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!

I have removed the case and cleaned it etc. all to no avail. the problem still exists.

SInce Gumdrop has not responded (and I gave them over 5 days to respond) I have no choice but to write this unfavorable review.

Regards,

Robert

3.0 out of 5 stars A good case but a problem that needs atttention! 25 Nov. 2012

Good case I've found for the iPhone 5 but not perfect. It offers solid protection and has a good look to it.
My problem is the plastic screen protector, it seems to affect interaction with the proximity sensor causing problems such as:
when I'm on a call and want to activate speaker it won't allow me to access, it seems to deactivate the screen and it proves difficult for me to get the screen to respond.. This happens again when I use Suri - the screen just turns off. I don't know how the case is doing this but it is frustrating!
I've written the company in hopes they will address this..

UPDATE: The company responded to me and sent me a new case. However, the new case has the same problem of affecting the sensitivity of the sensor. I really appreciate the good customer service the company offers but I do wish they would address this issue with the cover, as if they did, this case would therefore be a solid 5 star rating.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst case ever, don't waste your money. 8 April 2013

This case is horrible and not worth the 50 dollars. When you place the phone in your pocket it get covered in lint. The screen protector does not fit flush and tons of lint gets trapped under the screen protector on the screen of the phone. The silicone edges do not stay connected to the plastic frame. Do not waste your money. If you want a quality case for the iPhone 5 get the otter box defender series. It's a far better choice for this phone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Looks Great and Works Great 27 Sept. 2012
By John Ehlers - Published on Amazon.com
I have Gumdrop Droptech cases on my Iphone 5, Iphone 4s, and iPad 3. Just like the others, the Iphone 5 case is great looking, highly protective, and easy to use.
Some people say it isn't durable enough because its light, but the Iphone 5's key feature of feather-like phone lightness is what makes it feel light, not the case.

To ottrbox fans, Ive seen the otterotterboxbox videos in the past. People have thrown all kinds of phones in their cases off buildings and bridges to show they are worthy, but I'm not going to do that. It was hard enough getting the Iphone and ill leave it up to the companies themselves to do ballistics testing. Every otterbox case Ive seen, with the exception of the GSIII, has been extremely bulky and the otterbox I had on my Iphone 4S feel apart from use. If the case itself falls apart from normal wear and tear, theres a problem. I turned to Gumdrop and it serves me well.

And all I know is if I go sliding off my bike on the street, Ill feel confident that when I crawl back up, my phone will be in a safe-usable condition to call for help thanks to GumDrop.

The cheesy way to put it is...

When im on the bike I need to know that no matter what terrain im tearing through, my line out to the world is being kept safe. In case of a crash, the only thing between life and death is that small box that connects you to the rest of the world. Since I only go for the best, with my new iPhone 5, I look to Gumdrop to watch my back and keep my lifeline safe . To street riders everywhere, theres nowhere else to look for protecting your iPhone 5 when you hit the streets.

2.0 out of 5 stars Defective shipment 11 Feb. 2013
By Daniel - Published on Amazon.com
Overall, it doesn’t appear to be a bad case. It’s rugged exterior impressed me so much that an order was immediately initiated after seeing the advertisement. However, upon receiving the case, I was quite disappointed, as the built-in screen protector was dislodged / unstuck from it’s face frame, coupled with the fact that the interior / flip side of this built-in-screen-protector, is permanently scratched and otherwise smudged throughout the middle to the two opposite corners; hence it is impossible to use this case. Unfortunately, this defective Gumdrop case is of no use to me; as I didn’t get what I paid for.
