This first class 8 page pullout leaflet from the Field Studies Council describes 26 of the coccinellid species that occur in the U.K. and are considered to be ladybirds.
Following a short introduction and illustrated life cycle details of the 26 are given in tabular form including a)status-common to rare b)colour pattern c)habitat d)overwintering site and e)distribution.
Other sections cover identification, feeding relationships, the harlequin ladybird and the U.K. ladybird society.
There are colour illustrations of the 26 both life size and 6x magnification.
A very well presented and thought out paper.

I love most of the FSC guides and have used them with my own children plus Wildlife WATCH groups etc.

The double sided guide has:-
on one side - pictures of ladybird types with real size pictures beside them & a hint as to which habitat they are most common.
On the other side - Ladybird life cycle, Anatomy, a table of info about the types pictured on the other side, Info on the 'harlequin' ladybird and further web links.

The guide when not unfolded (this is a standard size) is 24.5cm x 17cm

The guides are nice and easy to look at for young children, just to take on a walk, day out or just spending time in the garden. species

I love these field guides, ideal to take out with you and look for the species. Great for kids and adults alike. I am gradually collecting all the guides for wildlife as they are so handy.

Our grandson is really interested in all little living creatures. He will enjoy trying to identify all the various ladybirds.

This was on my daughters Christmas list. It's so interesting looking at all the different ladybirds we get. A great present
