From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with an uneasy truce with a quarter of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting racoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

It’s been called the boldest and riskiest move yet by Marvel Studios, with some eagerly anticipating theatrical failure...
But after sitting through 2hrs of awesomeness I can honestly and safely say that Guardians of the Galaxy is a treat for the senses with a brilliant foot-tapping, head-bopping soundtrack and great humour with lots of one-liners.
With a great cast and a wisecracking performance from Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star Lord who is clearly equal parts Han Solo and Mal Reynolds.
Among other characters in the film there's Rocket played by Bradley Cooper who is positively brilliant and (dare I say it) probably one of my favourite characters in the movie.
I have to agree with some critics who are calling Guardians of the Galaxy "possibly the best Marvel movie yet".
Personally, I thought the movie was terrific. It's funny, it's sweet, it's exciting, it feels fresh and familiar all at once. it wears its heart on its sleeve, places tongue firmly in cheek, and never once gives up trying to impress us. It's bold to compare this to Star Wars, but the comparison is there.
I won't spoil the plot or tell you what characters from the Marvel-U appear in the movie but what I will say is that it's not a superhero movie. In fact, this is a different type of movie from the Marvel studios, and that's a good thing!
Oh and by the way, there's a scene after the credits although it's not a must see.
Many reviews are saying this is "Star Wars for a new generation" and I'll be honest, I have to agree!
I enjoyed every minute of Guardians and I'm sure will too!
Here's looking forward to Guardians 2 in 2017.
I just want to say I am 48 years old and the last time I was so blown away with a film as much as I was with Guardians was when I saw Star Wars many years ago.
Absolutely brillinat and obvioulsy must have been my sense of humour too as I was laughing out loud on a number of occasions. Ive no idea who the actors where but I thought they where all brilliant.
I cant wait for this to come out on Blu Ray as I feel I get a better picture from my own cinema setup than at the actual cinema that I think is too dark.
I've become a little bit of a Marvel nut the last few years with all the Marvel films released but I knew nothing about the Guardians of the Galaxy and I was completely blown away with this movie. It instantly became my favourite of the lot.
Everything about this film is great, especially the music, and I'm the type to be very picky about big budget films, they spend millions on the things, I should not be able to spot plot holes!.
The acting, CGI, plot and especially the soundtrack are all spot on, the first scene of the film with "StarLord" proper listening to old classics through a walk-man sets the tone for the rest of the film. I thought Avengers was very good but this is even better and is genuinely funny throughout as opposed to one or two gags (eg. Hulk's "Puny God") in the other Marvel films.
Well done Marvel and the money men for backing this film which must have been a bit of risk given the unknowns in it. It truly works and I look forward to many more in the future.
I am groot.
Just a joy to watch was hooked from the start, This film is so bold it has all the right stuff the bad guys are epic the CGI is amazing,
Think Firefly with star wars add Farscape with epic budget, great story, witty characters mega action scenes some quite brutal.
This is most sci fi fans dream movie.
In my opinion it's one of the funniest superhero movies ever made, no surprise coming from the director of 'Super' who has shown what he is capable of producing with a big budget.
I also really cared about all the characters. The CGI along with Bradley Coopers performance brought to life Rocket Racoon who I feel could star in his own film. A movie I would much rather see than a remake of Marvels Howard The Duck lol. Chris Pratt's role as Peter Quill aka Starlord reminded me of Harrison Ford's performance in Star Wars and the first three Indy movies. If you enjoy sci-fi films then this is a must buy Blu-ray/ DVD.
