illustrator Patrick McDonnell is a match made in heaven. Together
they created a book that is a fun, easy read that was simply delightful.
The illustrations, both beautiful and whimsical, combined with Eckart
Tolle's words are priceless. It is doubtful once you pick this book up
and start reading it, you will be able to put it down.
Another book that's priceless and impossible to put down is titled,
Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment
by award winning authors Ariel & Shya Kane. Check out both of them!
Eckhart Tolle has succeeded in distilling the fundamental messages contained in most of the spiritual teachings and philosophies and has been able to reach for the core message contained in all of them and use it as a pointer to the truth of who we are. You can, if you prefer, study the various strands of Buddhism including Zen and other philosophies such as Jainism, Baghavad-Gita, Christianity, the teachings of Krishnamurti, Ramana Maharshi and so on but if you want the simple truth of who you really are and where you can find the answer to that question, Eckhart can point you in the right direction. You will find yourself in the stillness of the present moment and if you follow his teaching you will soon be in that only moment that exists - the present moment, fully aware but minus the mental noise, the constant stream of thoughts. You will have transcended ego, the mind created concept of who you think you are. You will free yourself from life's pain and stress caused by thinking and come to realise that most human problems are mental constructs.
I have read all of Eckhart Tolle's books and this one is my favourite since it reveals his message in a beautiful and simple way using animals as the pointer to who we really are, conscious, aware, alive, not forever trapped in the past and constantly seeking the next thing, the next moment but having made friends with the present moment. Freed from the unconscious egoic state and living in the now we can be who we really are and do all the things we need to do in our lives, eat, work, study and so on but do them in the now not with our minds forever focussed on past and future.Read more ›

How to Live in the Here and Now: A Guide to Accelerated Enlightenment, Unlocking the Power of Mindful Awareness
Guardians of Being is written by Eckhart Tolle, author of The Power of Now and A New Earth. His words are then accompanied by illustrations by Mutts creator Patrick McDonnell. It's a wonderful combination, creating a comic book look with real meaning. No doubt readers will find a variety of pages that resonate and inspire them.
Eckhart and Patrick explain the inner purpose of life in such a fun, loving and simple manner that you can read it without at first noticing the power that lies within the wonderful drawings and between the insightful words. ...The great thing is that a deeper part of you has fully understood.
This book is a must for anyone who loves cats, dogs and nature as well as anyone who wants to find a simple way to simply Be and live NOW.

It focusses mainly on our relationship to animals, mostly dogs and reminds us how to access the now when we can so easily lose touch.
I read this book 2 days before xmas after putting my back out, rushing about. I was stuck on the floor for several hours. It took only 5 -10 minutes to read.Half way through I was smiling and laughing to myself. Of course, now what was it that was so important!?
If you have one book in your loo, this is a must. You can open the book on any page and take that one thought through the day with you.
If you love dogs ,or animals this is for you!
