Grunter is one naughty pig. This book details how Grunter causes havoc in the farmyard and terrorises all the other animals. However the others have the last laugh as Grunter gets his come-uppance. This book is irreverant and should appeal to all children. It is wonderfully illustrated and packs a great finale.

This story has delighted several of my kids for many years. It's perfect bedtime reading for those of you who enjoy reading to the kids then or easy for them to read to from 5 and up... It's a funny story with fun, bright illustrations. Highly recommended.

HASH(0x8e31a42c) out of 5 stars a great learning experience for your children 13 Jan. 2000

I am a preschool teacher and I used this book as a learning experience. While reading the book we talked about how Grunter's behavior was not appropriate, and that is why the other animals did not like him. We also discussed that it is not okay to hurt other people, and that the other farm animals behavior was also inappropriate. We asked the children what they would have done instead. We had some pretty creative answers. They definitely enjoyed the illustrations, and the humor shown throughout the book. We look forward to reading the next part.

HASH(0x8ee96f18) out of 5 stars Grunter, Pig with Attitude 16 Feb. 2000

I read this book to my daughter's preschool class and it was an enormous hit. The children loved the pictures and the outrageous behaviour of the pig. This book is a good modern story of the pitfalls of bad behaviour.

HASH(0x8d7e0a8c) out of 5 stars Not as cute as the cover 12 Jun. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I really looked forward to seeing this new book. Great illustrations, nice eye-catching cover, but what a disappointment in the story! It's violent and there is no conclusion to the story. The last line is "to be continued". There is no resolution to the conflict in this story between Grunter (pig with a bad attitude) and the poor farm animals that he bullies and beats up (rammed the rooster!!). Hey, I bought this book expecting a beginning and an end, not a two-parter to be continued. Is this a Pig Wars trilogy? In our society a picture with a stick of dynamite appearing in front of the pig's face, then a giant explosion, is pretty inappropriate. The violence begats violence theme is not acceptable( and not funny). Sorry, this book is unrecommended.

My kids love this book but it ends with a cliffhanger like there would be a second book. Did he ever write the ending?

HASH(0x8e8244e0) out of 5 stars A Pig Too Big For His Trotters! 7 Jan. 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Library Binding
I found this hard cover book to be a light-hearted amusing look at an aspect of negative behaviour.
It was well illustrated throughout, making it a perfect bedtime story book.
As a parent, I really enjoyed reading the book with my child because I found it funny too!
I realize that some may find this book politically in-correct, however, reading to your child doesn't stop there. I think that it is good to talk about the book with your child, and discuss other ways in which problems may be resolved.
