Our little chunker of a boy is 2 and a half, and it's a little too big for him to carry on his back. It slips off when it's not full enough, and when it's full it's too heavy for him so weirdly, he can only carry it when it's empty. It will be perfect for when he's bigger, but we expect he will have moved onto something else by then.
Unfortunately the thread which held the hanging loop and the top of one of the straps has come apart after only a few months of normal use. Easily fixable, but still, disappointing.
The front is wipe clean (shiny plastic) - if it wasn't I wouldn't hesitate to throw it in the washing machine. Too much effort for me to scrub the top to get it clean!
Overall, it's a great backpack but we won't bother replacing it if it falls apart again.
