This movie went straight to DVD instead of on cinema release which normally tells you that the movie is considered too bad for general release. However Grudge 3 is not that bad, although if you are looking for a new storyline in the series you will not find it here. The story starts off with Jake the young boy survivor from Grudge 2. He has been hospitalised for his safety and whilst under observation is visited by the lady ghost intent on making him her next victim. The doctor who is treating Jake is badly skaken by what happens to him and she decides to investigate further, leading her to the block of flats where he lived in Chicago.
The flats are now being managed by a young man who is living there with his 2 sisters and the curse of the Grudge moves on to them. Here is where the movie disappointedly becomes an extension of Grudge 2, with the familar shocks and deaths, no new surprises here.
I won't spoil the ending for you by giving away any more of the storyline, except to say that if you guessed what happens next and base it on what happens in Grudge 2, you will have a reasonable chance of getting it right!
So would I recommend this movie? Actually yes, if you enjoyed the first 2 movies and don't mind more of the same, then it is worth giving this movie a go.

By the time you get to film number three in a horror franchise it's normally time to give up the ghost and this is no exception. The same tale of terror, possession and revenge is played out with a new bunch of random victims but this time without the goosebumps or scares. The dead girl with the scary long black hair who makes creepy noises and the pale little boy (who were genuinely spooky when it all started) are now tired and corny and, along with the plot(that must have taken all of half a day to write)are well over due a good exorcism.Unless you're a die-hard fan then avoid. The only part i enjoyed? *geek alert* Seeing Marina Sirtis (and shouting OMG it's Deanna Troi from Star Trek:The Next Generation!).Glad she's still working but she's so much better than this.

Ok film, meant to be horror but honestly its not even scary. The films in general are good, maybe 3 was 1 too many but it does seem to work anyway. I have seen better horrors but there are also a lot worse. If you have seen the other grudge films then it is worth you buying/watching this one to complete the collection.

This may not be better than the superior grudge 1 and 2 but its still a great horror with a good story and maintains the usual creepy unsettling effects and spine chilling atmosphere that you expect it to have with lots of weird shenanigans going on around a hospital, the awesome Shawnee smith is also worth getting it for if your a fan of hers (Saw movies, the blob) its a cheaper sequel to cash in on the franchise but I still loved it and think its worthy of picking up if your a fan.

If you like the first 2 Grudge films you'll like this the story isn't as interesting as the first two and kind of repetive but the scares suprisingly still get you completly on the edge of your seat even when you know they are coming! I'd recommend this to anyone who likes a nice fright.

I loved "The Grudge" it was original and spooky. "The Grudge 3" is as so many sequels are, a real let down. They struggled to keep the original atmosphere or eerie fright and scares and the entire movie felt desperate and like a cheap attempt to recreate the scares of the original movie. The story line was very predictable and very little of it was genuinely scary or frightening and the special effects lacked any real depth. If you thought "The Grudge 2" was a let down then believe me that this one is even worse. The characters were weak and felt like they were parties on a train with no real destination. The ending was quick and unsatisfying as it seemed that they had simply given up and tried to wind it up as quickly as possible.

ok, so i was a bit skeptical when my (15 year old) daughter mentioned this 3rd instalment in the american remake of the japanese film franchise....still with me? the japanese originals are, IMHO, superior to the american translations - which won't surprise anyone already familiar with 'ringu' and 'the ring'.

what did surprise me is that even 3rd time around, the atmosphere still maintains most of the suspense of its predecessors, although maybe the shocks are slightly less subtly played out. nevertheless, it was worth a few quid ('used' plus postage, from a trusted amazon marketplace seller) and gave us a good 'movie night'.

now, where did i put my 'evil dead' dvd?
