I started reading thinking I had bought just Groza. It is an intriguing and surprising short story: a real surprise near the end ... and then there was another surprise at the end of that story - there was another short story, so there were two for the price of one :-)

Both stories, as is usual with Grant's work, was extremely well written, a good pace, beautiful use of language and, as ever, a twist in the tale. Looking forward to reading some more of his longer works soon.

I've just finished the short story,"Groza" as well as the bonus short story, "Ragamuffin Girl". These were two great tales written from interesting perspectives. I'm used to good writing from this author, having previously enjoyed the novels, "Switch", "No Cry For Help" and "K.A.R.M.A", and I wasn't disappointed this time either.

If you're looking for gentle and heartwarming tales then these stories aren't for you and, in fact, this is probably not the kind of author you wish to follow. However, if you like gritty, tense, sometimes dark literary delights served with a twist, then these are just the stories you could be looking for.

Newcomers to this author can use these short pieces of work as a taster and if you like what you read then try his novels. There are the three novels listed above which I have read as well as other novels which I haven't. Port of Sorrow, and Angel with a Bullet (Dixie Flynn Mystery) which is written by Grant under the pen name, M.C. Grant.

Grant McKenzie has wrote a short story that delivers a punch as always i highly recommend this Canadian writer short stories or novels he delivers a rich detailed story with a twist i highly recommend this author and put him on par with lee child and James Pattersons earlyer works. I sugest that you read his novels too as they show a prolonged quality of his work although the quality is the same excellent standard, this is a short story.
