Based on the classic fairytales of the Brothers Grimm, the drama sees homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli) wrestle with his new found status as a 'Grimm'--an ancient hunter charged with the task of keeping the world safe from sinister and murderous monsters.

It is full of fresh and fun characters and some very good ideas at the price I paid it was a very good deal
The show has some weakness the central characters lack any rel depth and the story arc is simple and obvious
The supporting cast/characters are fantastic and the idea of the Wesen is very subtle and clever
the stories of the support characters and very good the main ones well they follow the same old pattern nothing exiting
The hope would be we would see a better pace in the season and eposodic story development and a break form the same old stories for the central characters in the future seasons
I have to admit I slipped into box set fever with this one and I was glade I did as i almost let the bargain slip
The special effects as the 'Wessen' morph into animals (or worse) are excellent, the characters are well done, with a largely unknown cast, and this is compulsive viewing.. Have already bought the second series and can't wait for the third!!
Cue for a police series with a difference - Nick striving to keep his secret from colleagues and partner, vet Juliet. Quickly he discovers how several such creatures are now peaceful and keen to co-exist. Others, however, have grown even more menacing, seeing Nick as a threat to be eradicated.
Twenty two episodes crammed with special effects, gore (and, it must be confessed, the ringing of phones). David Giuntoli is likeable as Nick, Silas Weir Mitchell great fun as his unlikely ally. At first some viewers may find everything a little too way-out but the series steadily takes hold, ending with so many cliffhangers that Season 2 is now eagerly awaited.
Bonuses include an interesting feature on the creation of monsters. Tight filming schedules did not permit actors spending hours in make-up. Instead technical wizardry has creatures emerge from their human covering.
Outstanding episodes? There are quite a few actually. Those Grimm Reapers are appropriately unnerving. For many the rats may long be remembered.
Recommended to those who enjoy macabre escapism.
I just review the product. The set does have some nice touches like the title on the top and bottom of the case it's trivial but if you have some discs 'end on' you can, with Grimm, see what it is! This is worth the money. I've paid twice as much and got half the product in the past. This is quality, for Blu-ray Disc set, which isn't a limited edition.
Firstly i want to say that it is cheesy, silly, tongue in cheek at times, and ridiculous, but to me none of these is a weakness, the balance is right between darkness, action and humour.
One area i am not keen on is the treatment of the'lead' female role, she is basically kept in the dark all series and used as a damsel in distress repeatedly without ever really developing. Outside of this i found all the charactors to be engaging, interesting and fun.
For a TV production the special effects come across pretty well overall and really help bring you into the story, a fair amount of suspension of disbelieve is needed (Every crime thiat this one detective investigates seem to have been committed by a mythical creature) but if you are willing to let this happen i found that each hour flies by.
